what uni? how many fights you had?

 

I'm at Heriot Watt.

25 fights, none of them Uni fights though.

 

i'm at glasgow....you might struggle to get an open class bout at the scottish uni's last yr i dont think there was many...maybe 1??

 

I didn't realise there was a criteria. Is there a novice championship and an open class one?

 

yup...it's all held on the same day as the same tourny...but theres novice bouts and open bouts less than 10 and over 10 respectively

i know one other 75 who is open class i think so you might get a bout

 

Ya open class championship to advance to nationals in 2 weeks. Dude I am likely matched with just won Ringside World in our weight division in Aug, so have my work cut out for me!

 

I know of the boy that won it last year called Mike McGreagor but I don't think he's entering it this year.

Shields...from edinburgh uni, i think he won the scottish novice 75 last year and i saw him win the bucs 75 novice last year too which i think tips him into the open category

I box Friday at the National PAL tournament.

 

Ontario Provincial Championships start on the 29th.

Will be my first open class fight. I'm just hoping to get a matchup with someone close in experience level in the first round and hopefully win that one. Should be good though.

 

are there any open class tournaments for novices (less than 10bouts) that reguarly take place in the uk? if so how can i found out where these will normally happen?

 

There will be one or two yearly depending on where you're from and you're trainer will enter you in it if you're ready.

I think I'll make my amateur debut on November 21. My trainer talked to me about it yesterday and we're going to do things this next month to get ready for it. I've already sparred 3 times so far and am getting better everytime out. I just finished my 3rd week of ever being at a boxing gym also.
