Was supposed to be fighting tomorrow, biggest fight of my career so far but I've been real sick for a week and had to cancel it.
Just cause I know afew guys are interested in how Im getting on and I really appreciate the feedback I get from you guys. So boxing in my hometown against a southpaw. Started well enough but got my lip shredded in half, literally. I was landing my right hand but was boxing within myself and not using my right feetwork. I did better when I counterpunched but I was lunging in etc.. 2nd round I dealt with my lip and got on with it and adjusted well and landed good rights but was still getting tagged abit too much I thought anyway. 3rd round I boxed all right but couldnt perform to my best for certain reasons. But I boxed well and was forcing the fight and my opponent was tiring abit but fair play he hung in and fought hard. At the end I thought I lost but my trainer said I won pretty good. I cant comment as I havent seen the video. But it was a close fight. The guy got the decision but i did feel I can perform much better. Theres a video to come so look forward to feedback.
It was alright, abit sloppy on my part. Thing is im fed up with the bad decisions, and im not being bitter but I have been in a lot of close fights and even fights I won closely and I never get a decison. Its like I have to knock out a guy to get a draw and guys from other clubs say it aswell. People enjoyed the fight though, thing is I wonder if you see how bad my lip is in it. Also in the corner I turned round and spat out some blood and it landed on my corner mans head
Can you improve your style to make it more amateur scoring friendly, so to speak? I you keep ending up on the bad side of a decision you may want to consider it.
I have a stupid question. I'm a technical boxer, so I like to pick off my shots. Should I go amateur ish and start swinging a bunch or stick with it despite the disadvantages?
Picking your shots is brillaint for computer scoring. Combination punching is better for the card scoring.
sorry to hear that young un', you do seem to have a style that would suit the pros. if the fight was close and probably exciting to watch then thats good enough.if its any consolation, you'll probably remember these close fights, win or lose long after you've forgotten easier victories. thats how it is/was with me anyway.:good
One thing i would do if i were you is act like you're fresher after the end of the bout if its a card scoring one. Even if you're dead tired, bounce around, look energetic etc. A few judges i've spoken to say that you should always try to look fresh and confident in your victory however the bout went.
Exactly what my trainer said, I wasnt even tired after it though. Honestly could have done another round at least.
:huhthats interesting.my trainer used to tell us all to not lean on the ropes and look exhausted at the end of the fight.i dismissed it as crap at the time.
