I'd say the biggest fall in boxing was after Duran beating one of the best w.w. fighters ever and securing what some have called the greatest win of all time, he quite (No Mas) in the next fight.

He lost his trainer, his promoter and most of his fans, in one fell swoop.

Then went on a losing streak against Benitez, and of all people Kirkland Laing.

Course the difference between him and others, is that he rose again, beating Cuevas, Moore, going the distance with Hagler and beating Barkley, all of which were amazing.

But for at least one fight, Duran hit the wall harder than anybody.

 

Sergio's rapid decline actually makes sense though, he was always one to rely more on his own physicality than boxing skill. He had a torn meniscus, torn ACL and some serious cartillage damage, your body never fully recovers from stuff like that. You could tell he was in trouble just watching his stiff legged ring walk against Cotto.

 

Add that to this age and it's a wonder he lasted as long as he did.

Prince Naz pretty much quit boxing after one loss.

 

Donaire seems to have hit a wall. He got a pumpkin face from Rigondeaux, then won a technical decision on a headbutt after four rounds against Vetyeka, then got clubbed into the canvas by Walters. Donaire needs to go back to fighting smaller less skilled men so he can get back on the pound for pound lists, with his spectacular KO's over tomato cans.
