I very much doubt he would stop Golovkin but it would have been a great fight that could go either way. I would favour Golovkin myself, who still seems to be getting better.

Someone here made a thread about how Miguel Cotto's career was a mirage, but they should have really done it about Sergio's.

His best wins were against the overrated Pavlik and a good win against a decent Paul Williams in a rematch. After that, Sergio's wildly overrated skills and physical decline went unnoticed while he wisely fought a succession of euro level opponents.

He was eventually exposed by the crude Martin Murray, but was saved by a gift decision in front of an Argentine home crowd. And then he was completely outclassed and destroyed by the best boxer he ever faced, Hall of Famer Miguel Cotto, who did in round 1 what Chavez Jr. could also have done in a round or two if he had been more disciplined.

And now all the Sergio hype jobbers are crying in this thread and dozens of others, still claiming their man crush was a great middleweight. When in reality he shamelessly ran from Gennady Golovkin and was destroyed and exposed by Miguel Cotto, a light middleweight he cherry picked looking for an easy big payday.

It's disgraceful that the overwhelming majority of posters on a website devoted to boxing know so little about their sport and can't admit what they see with their own eyes: that Sergio Martinez was one of the most overrated boxers of the last 10 years.

That you even think chavez jr could stop the martinez he fought in a round tells me all i need to know about your boxing comprehension.
