Foster claims none of the rounds he was winning went three minutes and the ones he was losing went on for far longer than three. Basically, he was getting screwed due to the fight being in Mina's backyard. Eh?
It certainly isn't unheard-of for hometown officials to do something like this. I've done a little bit of sifting for newspaper accounts on this match, but come up with hardly anything.
.............****, if it weren't for Russell starting threads, we'd be subject to little but Suzieq's offerings of Rex Layne and the other ATG 1950's heavyweights. I'm glad he does it. He's a great poster.
Bless the child, he is a classic on Classic... He is appreciated.. Its like a great relationship... You have to work on it to make it work..... He is having an affair wit this forum.. LOL
Never have seen it but sure would like to. Bob Foster is one of about 3 guys who's word I take 100%. He is extremely candid about his losses and even that Ahumada draw. He certainly doesn't credit Jones or Terrell as much as those losses to Frazier and Ali, but he is blunt. I believed his take on that Mina fight & the sport is just full of examples of the road warriors getting the short end of the stick against the hometown house fighter. What's funny is just how rare it is to see the house fighter get screwed & you can literally count them on 2 hands out of tons of fights.
he seemed to be candid only when it suited him to be so in the interviews i have read.He craftily discredits Ahumada in the way he admits he lost the fight for instance.Does the same to Fourie. He also has mentioned he taught John Conteh how to throw a left-hook when he was in England for the Chris Finnegan fight, which is nonsense as well.
