That's true. For what it's worth, I was basing my comparison only on Pacquaio as he went up the weight classes. Margarito, Clottey, these kind of fights. Bivol raids his opponent in a not dissimilar way, I think.
If anyone can take away someone's jab and play the game of "be first and if you can't be first, be last" it's Bivol. I fully expect Bivol to be first this fight, if Arthur comes out and doesn't have his jab neutralized and somehow manages to be the one violating Bivols midrange without punishment, the fight is over. It's a really dangerous game, Usyk employed great lateral movement and tried to outwork Arthur (successfully), and he still got dropped everytime they fought because he lingered around on the inside too much. Granted that Usyks offense comes from mid to close range hooks that he throws in combinations from the angles he creates, all from behind an excellent southpaw jab, so I do think his style naturally made sure that Arthur would eventually land something. So yea, I believe Bivol can do it, but I also believe he can get complacent, hes not been as mobile fighting the Lyndon Arthur's of this world, it could be that he lingers in the pocket too much and finds out real why you don't let Arthur be last.
I tried. I am not a fighter. He ordered something at the food court where I work and was saying stuff that was like special instructions and I had just quit huffing paint that week and it really aggravated me so I tried. It did not end well for me. But, it's cool; I get disability now.
Yes he does , often at the back of the head . Is it legal ? Well it could be said he was aiming for the side of the head and then the punch wandered around to the back of the head . He is very good at it which is why eventually he will stop Bivol with it .
Usyk could also turn Beterbiev by moving back and turning to his right and forcing Beterbiev to turn with him. Not sure if Bivol can quite do that.
We've seen bivol do this aswell, he's one of the best turners in boxing actually, but it is one thing to turn a Jean Pascal - a guy who pretty much gets turned at will, compared to turning an Arthur Beterbiev who has shown himself capable of downing Usyk with a kidney shot as he was about to turn him. Abandon all hope ye who sit in front of the Chechen without throwing any volume
I think turning will be vital. Bivol has to do it. If he simply moves back and forth, he will eventually be backed up against the ropes. And you can't fight on the ropes vs Beterbiev. You just can't. He isn't Canelo. You have to turn him several times to try to keep it near the center of the ring. I hope Bivol is studying the Usyk-Beterbiev fights to learn what to do and also what not to do.
Easier said than done. If you are in position to land uppercut on Beterbiev, it means you are well within range of his short hooks and probably just ate a few hard shots. It is like asking "has anyone tried to land uppercuts on Mike Tyson". Yes, many tried but...
You were very diplomatic there, they couldn’t be more different. PAC is pressure fighter and Bivol is boxing tactician who can sit behind his jab or work off it, but he is never going to risk overcommitting
