I am looking at ways to protect a boxers eyes while he spars as he has corneal erosion. I came accross this headguard and would be interested in opinions. It looks like may prevent contact with the eyelids.

That would have to be pretty tight fitting/rigid otherwise that hard plastic will swat the poor sod in the face.

I've heard of these. I think it's called a facesaver. Never used one myself or seen anyone use it in the gym

Now that's how boxing would be if Canadians invented it.

I found this really funny. You could have said many countries and I still would have found it funny.

I haven't ever seen one of the full faceguards like you posted, but I have seen and used one like this:

I didn't particularly like it at all, but that was because it wasn't on tight enough and the bar kept flopping around and messing with my vision. If it had been the right size it would have been fine, and it sure was nice not getting popped hard on the nose.

There's one guy at my gym who swears by them, and I've never seen him spar without one.

It's awful for kickboxers, because they can't see the kicks coming, but for boxers your field of vision shouldn't be too interfered with. that is, if it's on tight enough.

Of course, it looks goofy and I don't like the way the facebar changes the weight distribution on my head, but if its between that and not boxing I'd say go for it.

Honestly stay clear of these ones as much as possible only use them if your nose is broke, I am serious, They are hard to see out of and if you catch a shot on the top part of the bar, even when your chin is tucked it snaps your neck as if you got caught on the button and it ****s you up.
