For me, one of the best things about Calzaghe is his fearlessness once he's in the ring. He's always so confident about imposing himself on the opposition in spite of their power. Even Mitchell after the knockdown. But is Kessler's power greater? To change Joe's attitude?
lacy probably has 1 more punch power but kessler will be hitting calzaghe more consistently whic will make greater affect
Its the precision of Kesslers punches thats the problem not his power. Eubank, Reid,Mitchel,Brewer and Lacy were all potent punchers that Joe overcame.
Kessler certainly has good punch power, but the accuracy of his punches is his main asset. Both boxers seem confident going into this, so it will be interesting to see how each boxer takes the others power.
You can probably name a few who have better power than Kessler and some who have equal. What sets Kessler apart is not the power - but the timing and accuracy whith which he is able to deliver it.
Ironically, according to reports in the Daily Mail today Kessler is said to have damaged his hand - apparently he has been unable to spar for a couple of weeks and is not expected to do so again before he faces Calzaghe. Kessler's team are playing down reports of the injury but its an encouraging sign for Joe if its true.
Mitchell, Brewer, Lacy IMO all ad better 1 punch power, though Kessler's heavy hand will be landing more so probly more effective.
in kesslers last 6 fights he has only put 1 fighter on the deck , despite winning every round on the scorecards marcus beyer was the fighter. siacca/lucas/thysse/andrade/mundine were never close to going down .
