I agree with some that say floyd is not a true welterweight. What Floyd did 135 and up is a compliment to his greatness (another example is roberto duran). That said here are some of his noticeable wins in each division: 130-floyd basically cleaned out this division, which was very competitive I might add. This is the division that should determine his greatness more than 35 and 40, and especially 47 and 54. hernandez (fights him in only his 18th professional fight at the time hernandez was very experience and had one loss on his record and thats to a future hof in dlh) manfredy (good win) corrales (great win considering the circumstances which included a very tall fighter for the division, had some power, and a undefeated record and a warriors heart.) chavez (good win) 135 -(While he did not clean out this division like he did 130 he fought the best guy in the division twice) castillo (great wins, like I already said this was the best guy in the division he won a close fight the first go around. He then somewhat redeemed himself, when most boxers do not choose to, and fought the same guy that gave him trouble and beat him more clearly.) 140-(This was a pit stop, these wins were against named fighters in what I think was to build his name up to get fights with popular fighters such as mosley or dlh. Keep in mind though hatton who was seen as the man at 140 after beating kosta, and declined a fight with mayweahter, so did a very young and green cotto at the time. So one can make a case to say who was floyd suppose to fight vivian harris?) gatti-good but not great win if you want to see a fight that demonstrates his array of skills, this is the fight) judah-(like the gatti fight a good but not great win this fight shows how floyd can adjust to a different challenge zab being a fighter that matches his speed, and a southpaw zab did well the early rounds but floyd adjusted and won clearly as the fight progressed.) 147 (This is the division that alot of fans and media feel his greatness is determined off of, and that is inaccurate. I admit this division was not really the highlight any of his greatness, but at the same time he had no business in this division anyway. I would have liked to see floyd vs margarito, cotto or williams as much as the next person, but it is what it is.) baldimor (good win some argue that margarito should have been the opponent and thats a good case, however baldimor earned his shot at floyd moreso than margarito by beating gatti and judah, and capturing the WBC WW title in which floyd would later take from him.) hatton (great win against a good pressure as well as body fighter who was undefeated. Hatton at times made floyd a little uncomfotable in the earlier rounds but as floyd has done before, he adjusted, tired his man out, and knocked out hatton a fighter with a pretty good chin. It is important to note that hatton was seen as the man at 140) 154-(Like 135 floyd went straight after the man of this division in his biggest fight of his career.) de la hoya (Great win considering that floyd fights a taller guy who is in a division he never fought is a hof and a good all around boxer with some good power) Other notes: Has won titles at (130, 135, 140, 147, and 154) Has a almost flawless boxing style and uses his defense well understands how to hit and not get hit (yet some of you call it running) Unbelievable stamina and is a insane gym rat Has fought most of those fighters in their primes the only case you can really make is De La Hoya and Oscar was not shot or done by a long shot, besides Oscar was the bigger man and had everything in his favor going in, including what division the fight took place (154). As great as calzaghe is, most of his noticeable wins happened when the fighter was not at his very best/prime (Eubank, Hopkins and lets assume Roy Jones). His other wins are against Kessler, Lacy and Reid which are all good. What makes it even more amazing is doing all of this before your 32nd birthday. So to answer the question, no Calzaghe has not surpassed Mayweather Jr. In terms of greatness. To answer the thread question calzaghe has not passed floyd in hatred on this forum neither .
What record? Cmon lets be honest. Other than his last 3-4 fights, the 35 or so before that were a joke. Building a record fighting nobody is not an achievement of greatness. I give the guy credit for what he has done over the past 3 years or so (except Manfredo), but before then he was content fighting nobody. Now he wants big paydays for that....
to actually think JoeC is a better fighter than mayweather jr is almost as stupid and biased as sayin JOE CALZAGHE, YES JOE CALZAGHE has fought the better fighters...are u kidding me...u can use that argument with bhop,,,ODH but ****ing joe calzaghe!!!!!!!!!! he has 3 good wins PBF has 5 titles in 5 weight classes and STEAMROLLED 130-135....now I have seen it all
so if u are that good to win a title that makes you a ww...if you only want to make money while tellin the world on hbo you will destroy PBF you are a jww...makes sense
Lance may very well be the least knowledgable person in these forums...PBF won a title at 154 when he weighes 152 in the ring...somehow this is a bad thing for him,,,he walks around at 155 while hatton does at 180????
