i know he outboxed mosley from the outside in the latter stages. i have never seen him box on the outside for a long time in other fight people are saying that marg will be outboxed from outside for most of this fight but i can't see. i can see a classic though as two come forward fighters collide
I see him boxing off his back foot quite a lot in this fight, at times mixing it up on the inside with some bodyshots..
Why does he have to totally box and counter? Marg is **** inside, Cotto can smother him and work his way in with the jab and push Marg back, making Marg totally ineffective. Margs an effective mid-range swarmer, he gets no levarage inside and has an open non-defence. Plus, his workrate drops when he's being tagged constantly, as does any. There are many ways Cotto can win here.
Who says it's Margo who's gonna impose his will??? What if Cotto stands his ground? I'm not convinced Margo is the stronger fighter, Cottos definitely has the faster hands adn will get off first....who hits harder?
I concur. And also Margarito cant DO NOTHING in the middle of the ring. There is a gif on another thread showing both there left hooks and Cotto cracked Quintana in the middle of the ring with his. Margarito had to get Cintron all the way back against the ropes for at least 30 seconds to land. Even in a Margarito highlight his is just swinging and missing more punches then he lands. He just swings and gets by b/c he is strong and has long arms and a boulder for a head.
He sees them well enough to be an undefeated, p4p boxer, and the best of a good current crop of welters. Watch for the speed differential, both hand and foot, and the the dictating jab to set the tone early and the body work to come into effect late. Margo wont beat this guy.
well if he outboxed mosley after serving up for a couple of rounds, i'm pretty sure he can do it for more than 10 rounds....
Yes, Cotto is extremely comfortable boxing while backing up and changing direction. He boxed the **** out of Abdulaev for a great majority of that fight moving along the ropes. Cotto has excellent timing, always has.
