Good responses to my point, thanks chaps:good

@Taobum70, I'm sure the prospect of fighting a prime middleweight Marv is more intimidating than anything, regardless of previous form. I'm sure if it happened today The Hitman would receive flak. Mind you, he would also be a 'china chinned welter and WTF is Hagler doin duckin Lenord for?!?'

Why would they call him David Gaye if he hasn't blown it?

They called him David Gaye when he beat Mormeck. The GF is full of 15 year old idiots.

Rob, with all respect, opinions on this forum are decided on a fight by fight basis. Dawson is the god at LHW right now, but I remember he was a fraud and a bum after the close win over Johnson. it's just the cycle.

If Haye beat the Klits, he'd be the GOAT

I didn't want to make a new thread with this...

Over on Fightnews, Shelly Finkel (Klits US adviser) says the deal was 50/50 no options.

The main disagreement seems to be Haye wanted 100% of UK tv money and Wlad would get 100% of German tv money. Doesn't mention other TV rights or gate receipts etc

However, Wlad wanted all the TV money to go into the pot and be split evenly.

Now a year ago, Haye agreed to take only UK tv money (from Setanta). Now that Haye is a PPV star in the UK and making good money from SBO he says he'll take the UK money which he brings in and allow Wlad to keep the German money which the Klits bring in. However, K2 now want a share of the Sky money?

This **** doesn't make sense to me. Done a google search and the Klits signed a 5 fight deal with RTL (German TV) for 5 fights - 3 Wlad and 2 Vitali worth $15m. That works out at $3m per fight.

Now Haye's TV money is less clear. But assuming Haye-Wlad sells 500,000 PPVs at £15 a pop, that's £7.5m. Obviously Haye wouldn't get all of that but a fair chunk would go to him (I assume).

So now Haye has more earning potential than before and the Klits realise it. So they want a piece of the UK pie. So that's where the 50/50 comes from IMO. Quite possibly, a 50/50 with Haye including Sky and HBO would probably earn Wlad a bit more than he would with a 70/30 against someone else.

So this just confirms it, Haye is now making the smart business decisions. Less risk and still decent money as opposed to good money but much more risk against Wlad.

Bit of a shame really. I hope it's Adamek next if it's not Vitali.

Personally i think Haye is doing the right thing in biding his time to fight a K brother. He needs a little more time to grow into the division before taking on a guy of that size,i know he fought Valuev but all he needed there was the speed which he already had.He should of kept his mouth shut for a bit longer but i guess that just hyped up his other fights to get the money on the table while he adjusts to the weight ~ the more hype the more money :hey:hey

****ing hell, that would be the icing on the cake

Funny how that would involve returning right as Vitali retires... :deal

    No he hasn't.

But it's getting really close to that point. If Audley is indeed the next opponent that will definitely be a step back; I almost feel it's getting to the point where either Haye & Booth take whatever offer the Klitschkos put up no matter how bull**** (or otherwise) it may be, or just retire.

Of course they do. And they deserve it. Haye became more popular in the UK with yapping about them all the time.

    :rofl:rofl

Haye talking **** about the Klits did not make him popular in the UK. It was signing with Sky and fighting Valuev that made Haye popular.

And how did he get his shot at Valuev? By talking about the Klitschkos.

The Klitschkos are no mugs. The next offer he gets is not going to be 50/50. But of course the money split is not the reason why these fights can't be made.

The problem is that he enjoys his status as a HW champion too much to risk it by fighting the Klitschkos or any decent HW. He enjoys the limelight, the attention and he's going to milk the title and the excuses will keep on coming.
