Has Donnie Nietes done enough to be mentioned alongside Ricardo Lopez, Chocolatito, Calderon?

With Niete's recent victory over a quality fighter in Ioka would you say that Nietes' career should be comparable to the other great mini-fighters such as Finito, Chocolatito, and Calderon? I think Nietes has shown that he's one of the best smaller weight fighters and he has the resume and longevity to prove it.

No Ricardo or Roman but certainly can and should be mentioned alongside them. Dude is elite. His lack of P4P respect parallels that of Wonjongkam.

Beating Ioka, what a huge win.

He surprised me a lot. Coming from a gym that doesn't produce champions like ALA Gym. This Gym had a lot of hyped boxers but were a basket case for years. He is the one and only. The dude was a former janitor at the GYM. He proved he can still be competitive at age 36 is amazing. First Senator eerr janitor champion lol.

I had it 115-113 Ioka but even so for Nietes to hold a fighter as good as Ioka that close this far into his career is very impressive. This gives him, officially anyhow, the signature victory that never came his way in his prime...so on the one hand that's good, but on the other hand a bitter pill for Kazuto...

I was at the card in September that featured each in separate bouts. It sure seemed like Ioka would handle him.

Ricardo Lopez's career is vastly overrated. If Calderon retired before segura both resumes and career performances would be comparable with each other. A dominant career over nobodies.

I think he’s HOF lock. And in the company of those fighters mentioned above.

It really surprised me how actually strong he was. He was rocking ioka everytime they trade. That makes me think he's still good for a few fights.

Ricardo Lopez never beat anybody as good as Ioka and didn't have the balls to move up to a third or fourth weight class, so Nietes is significantly better than him in the resume department if not the eyeball test. Ditto for Calderon. But he still lags behind Chocolatito by a significant margin.

Kind of reminded me of the Canelo GGG 2 fight. Ioka controlling with the jab from the outside, Nietes landing some flashing body shots inside. Similar skill level and pace. Then some ****ed up scorecards. Of course, neither of them is the puncher Canelo and GGG are, and it didn't inspire a dozen threads about how corrupt China is, but I think it's a good analogy.

Calderon maybe? Lopez is a bonafide ATG and Chocolatito is borderline ATG.

His signature win is against a guy who is 23-1? Talent pool at the lower weight classes is so bad. Compare these guys achievements to even a guy considered a bum like broner.
