Has Evander Holyfield ever commented on the power of Foreman, Lewis, and Tyson?

I read Holyfield's latest autobiography Becoming Holyfield, and in it, he states that the guy who hit him the hardest was Riddick Bowe.

In the book, did he make any comments on the punching of Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis? Hmmm maybe I should order it from amazon if it's to be found fro $2 like a lot of books :p

I know Bowe had him in the most trouble, but i would'nt of thought he would hit as hard as foreman or tyson or even be comparable in power punching.Bowe on form though threw some beautifull combo's.Eddie Futch said years ago bowe had the potential to be the best heavy he ever trained.

I've read all of Holyfields books and all I've taken from them is 'A' is for apple and 'B' is for bear. Can't wait for his next attempt.

what's so funny about that? i don't know if i believe it.

exactly. maybe holyfield is influenced by this factor rather than the power of a single shot alone. nevertheless, he has a point from his view and i respect his words. he knows best.

He talked a bit about the Tyson fights. Mainly the whole ear incident in the second fight. He thought that he had been hit by a sniper at first. The book actually didn't talk about the Lewis fights at all.

The key to Tysons power was the speed of the punch and the combinations post prison when those two factors became non exsistant his power wasnt the same in my opinion.

As big a Tyson fan as i am, i would have to agree with u. Actually if Razor Ruddock, Frank Bruno or Bone Crusher Smith had the Speed of Tyson they would of broke somebody's neck or Worse.

I think that happened only after the second Holyfield fight (Botha being an unique exception). I personally think that Holyfield got to taste some of Tyson's best punches...especially rounds 1 & 5 (fight 1) and round 3 (fight 2).

We all know that Tyson's punches were devastating because the speed etc...but that's why I wanted Holy to try to compare the raw power to someone like Foreman or Lewis (2 guys with unquestionable raw power) to see how far behind or where Tyson's power stood in comparisons. We all can speculate but Holy has felt them.

What's not funny about Foreman saying he held back because he feared breaking people's necks ?

Really? I think if he was being 100% honest he would've said Lewis or Tyson (especially Lennox in the 5th round of their 1st fight). :yep

I have heard many times that Evander claimed that an old 42 year old Foreman hurt him more than Tyson.

If you watch Holyfield v Foreman it is obvious that Foreman hit harder.

Evander's head was constantly rocked by jabs.

Foreman would take a battering, then he would land one slow hook which had Evander stop fighting for a several seconds.

With Tyson it is more about the speed of the punches.

Evander took Mike's best shots without taking a backward step.

If George had Mike's speed, George would have killed several men in the ring.
