And there are those who was stopped in amateurs: Kuzmin was stopped by Arshba(Third round TKO) in 2008 in the beggining of his career. Simon Kean has been stopped as well. Robert Alfonso by Luis Oriz in the first round. Sean Turner by Matteo Modugno. Tony Yoka by Ali Eren Demerizen in the 5 round of the APB Pro competition, in the amateurs. Andrey Afonin has been stopped as well. Evgeny Romanov was stopped by Roman Romanchuk(R.I.P). Nick Webb has been stopped by now pro Joseph Joyce. Joe Joyce was stopped by Sergey Kuzmin in the beggining of the first round.
There are few good up and comers who never been stopped or knocked down. Names like Hrgovic, Ali Eren Demerizen, Efe Ajagba, Albon Pervizaj and Wallisch.
As I'm sure you're aware some of those guys were stopped numerous times Alfonso was brutally KO'd by Cammerelle. In fact, it's one of the worst KO's I recall seeing in amateur boxing. Poor Alfonso's face hit the canvas with a violent thud Timestamped. This content is protected Hrgovic actually stopped Afonin This content is protected
Hrgovic seems to have VERY good whiskers. Way better than Yoka. Which is one of the reasons many people think he’ll be a force at HW.
brutal KO by Camarelle!! I feel Afonin needs to shift a bit of weight to have any impact on the scene (albeit early days) and doesn't look like he has one punch KO power like some of his Russian pals.
Chins are best tested when hit. Hrgovic has been hit by several different punchers. But there is physically durability and mental toughness. He's mentally tough too.
He does look a bit soft. He's not a one punch KO type of guy but he looks impressive when he puts his shots together.
His heaviest weight was 227¾ but he was down as low as 218 a couple of fights ago. I'm sure he could get down to CW if he really wanted to.
I know. Too bad he got robbed in the semis of the Olympics. Filip would have been the one that brought the Gold back. Oh well.. he’ll avenge that in the pro’s.
