how is it a lame question when it has been asked of other fighters?

is it our fault floyd avoids the toughest challenges? instead of being butt hurt realize floyd is a ducker.

There were never any "prime ATG's" in his division with him.

Name the prime ATG's of the divisions who were around at the time Mayweather was there. There was none.

The top level, which he continuously beat, are generally seen as HOF'ers but not ATG's... The closest to prime HOF level or "all time divisional positioning" fighters that Floyd fought were Castillo and Corrales, clearly. Those are two of if not his two best wins because of so. Hatton too but the fight being at WW changes that. Genaro and Oscar were way past it but Genaro is an ATG of 130 and Oscar was an aged former p4p star. People say Mosley but there was never an occasion where they were in the same division until 2007, which retirement, etc, they fought in 2010. Cotto was faded but will make it to the HOF. Gatti was on one of the best winning streaks of his career heading in at 140 and is technically in the HOF, but he certainly is so far below the likes of any sort of discussion regarding Mayweathers' best win or among the stature of the other guys in discussion here. JMM involved a massive size advantage, but he is worth mentioning given that he is seen as an ATG fighter and it was fought in a division JMM would go on to score the greatest victory of his career.

So, once again, there were no prime ATG's for Floyd to fight. Casa 130, Johnston 135, Kostya 140, Cotto 140, Williams 147, Margarito 147, Mosley 135/147, Pac 147, Sergio 160. Those names don't apply because they either A) aren't ATG's or B) weren't in the same division when they were prime.

You know one of Salvador Sanchez's greatest boosts to his legacy is his win over a novice Azumah Nelson? And you're saying "I think Alvarez won't reach his prime for another year or two."

No he has not beaten a prime ATG.

Castillo is often viewed as the best LW of the decade while Corrales was seen as one of the best fighters in the world. They are not ATG's, though. There were no ATG's around to fight. Just the best available guys. For the most part, that's what he did. More routinely than anyone else in his era, which leads to the result of him being the best of his era.

I think after a certain number of years once they can apply, Mayweather will have 10 wins over HOF'ers on his resume.

Has De la hoya ever beaten an ALL TIME GREAT, in their prime??? The only one I can think of is Trinidad, but yeah he loss that fight officially, and ran away for the last 4 rounds.

There is only a few fighters in recent history, not talking about the 80's who beat ATG's in their prime. RJJ beat BHOP's and Toney... BHOP'S beat Trinidad... Pac beat Barrera and Marquez... Marquez beat Pac or shouldve got the decision... and Mayweather beat Marquez, even with the weight issues... Sweetpea beat Chavez and Nelson

The two who come the close to qualifying are Corrales and Hatton but neither is an atg. Both are HOFers though...

Hatton was soundly beaten the fight before, at 147, by Collazo, and only the bell for final round saved Hatton from getting KTFO.

incidentally, Hatton has shown a severe decline in chin and morale since then. Yet Floyd still dragged him to 147 when the guy's sole excursion to that weight class was a fiasco. Speaks volumes of Floyd's intelligence and low risk-high reward approach.

However, there are complains from me for the Alvarez fight. This is Floyd's best opponent since Castilio.

he won the first fight but if you believe he won the second so be it ... he won the immediate rematch.. so did jose suddenly drop out of prime after "beating" floyd?

floyd wanted cotto arum would not let him he also would not let him fight Oscar (this is where the "you gotta know when to hold em, know when to fold em" line came from arum)

floyd in a post fight speech said something along the lines of "i hear both oscar and shane are moving up to 147, those are the fights i want". none of them gave them a shot and fair enough because floyd was to high risk low reward at that point, then when floyd got some star power he faced oscar and beat him. he went on to face mosley when mosley called him out after mosley had handed one of the most feared men in margarito his only KO loss (this is possibly mosleys greatest win where he was not on steroids)

i believe (dont quote me on this) margarito offered floyd 8 mill for the a fight and floyd opted to fight baldomir instead for the same if not more cash but also recieved the lineal title (floyd was planning on fighting judah. judah was not ment to loose to baldomir so floyd fought both of them)

tzyu was with showtime and floyd on HBO so fight could not be made.

this has been said so many times but people keep jumping on the sports bandwagon and just eating anything bob arum and floyd haters say as fact

before you suggest such bull**** you should really look into floyd and arums relationship
