    Jones beat Hopkins well before Hopkins became an atg. Yet you will credit Jones with that but not Mayweather with moving up in weight to beat an already established ATG?

    I always think beating a young fighter beats beating an old one, but that's just me. Even then, Jones beat peak Toney anyway, and that blows away anything on Mayweather's record.

    Jones is DEFINITELY of Mayweather's generation.

    Jones's prime years were 1993-2003. Mayweather's were 1998-2008. Their peaks overlapped by FIVE years. There's no argument for them being of different generations whatsoever, or you may as well say that any fighters who didn't start their career in the exact same year, win their 1st title in the same year, and retire in the same year, were of different generations.

    No, I completley agree with you that Jones is a better and more accomplished fighter than Mayweather. It's just that I feel it unfair to claim Jones beat an ATG in Hopkins but that Floyd didn't in ODLH.
