No he has not. Not in my opinion. Floyd has moved up more weight classes. But if you look at there carriers as a whole. Look at the best fighters they have fought: How many LHW would be able to step up and beat John Ruiz? How many WW would be able to step up and beat Oscar De La Hoya? I am of the opinion that it is far far more easy to step up from being a WW to a LMW than from LHW to Heavy. Jose Luis Castillo, is he a better fighter than James Toney? I do not think so. Ricky Hatton, is he a better fighter at WW than Bernard Hopkins was at MW when Roy fought him? I do not think so.
I agree with this also. He was imo the fastest p4p fighter in the history of boxing. No man weighing 168lbs should be able to punch that fast with such power.
No he hasent. Floyds best wins: prime Corrales Tko 10, prime Castillo UD Twice, an old ODLH SD, prime Hatton TKO10. Defeated 2 undefeated fighters in his career RJJ: UD prime Hopkins ( future HOF), UD prime James Tony (Future HOF), KO4 old Virgil Hill, KO'd undefeated Montell Griffin, UD John Ruiz at HW, MD Antonio Tarver. Defeated 7 undefeated fighters in his career RJJ takes it.
Winning a piece of the HW crown means diddlly. Its all relative. Who did he fight against? But I do agree that Floyd has not passed Jones in greatness. Jones took zero techique into the ring and went to heights most boxers dream of. Floyd is Hopkins with more talent and less brains.
Jones was very unorthdox, but so was Ali. They both relied on their split second timing and fast hands. Jones is the more accomplished and more skilled fighter.
I think Jones but you have to admit that there is time for Floyd to pass him if he were to take more fights. And I'd like to add this---I am TIRED of the whole "Bhop was green BS". While it maybe true would you also have to say that Roy was green as well at the time of the fight? Also---if Bhop was so green, who did he lose to next? JoeyP
One thing I can't figure out with Jones is this - how did a guy with 'zero' technique manage to win best boxer at the Olympics, go through 4 weight divisions and completely own two of the best fighters of his generation :huh I still think Jones is ahead of Mayweather on accomplishments by the way, but Mayweather is closing. He'd have to do more than just beat Cotto though.
