Voted yes. I did not see the fight unfortunately but I had a sneaky suspicion all along that the Froch fights took something out of Groves.

Groves seemed like a different fighter in his two fights with Froch.

Many fighters are never the same after a loss and I think Groves is one of those.

I don't think so, at least not badly. Everyone handles defeat differently but Groves still seems full of belief for a guy who got starched. He showed plenty of heart against Jack.

The main problem which has been apparent since the first Froch fight is that Groves has regressed without Adam Booth. Clearly he gets on well with Paddy but he's not the architect of that Haye-esque style. He does know how to get the best out of it. The policy is to keep busy behind a double jab without the clever counters. Had Booth been there he would of got George to wait until Jack commited and came over with the right. Just look at how much he's cleaned up Andy Lee's style.

While not the best George's stamina and chin issues do not make him a walking accident when you weigh in how gutsy he is. Wladimir Klitschko has similar problems but designed a style to guard them. Steward sadly passed but had already made his imprint. Booth left Groves during that all important transition to world class and now, frankly, he looks a bit lost.

A real shame because I think Adam is the difference between fringe-world level and a solid champion.

I dont know if his stamina is his problem,

    Groves - 721 punches 154 hits
    Jack - 506 p. 210 h.

Groves jabbed 455 times. 86 hit.
    Jack jabbade 262 t. 83 h.

Groves missed aroud 200 Power punches. If he could pick his punched better he wouldn't need much better stamina.

But of course, if he's going to continue with this high output boxing style he really needs to improve his stamina!

since that first fight with froch he has regressed plain and simple.

such a shame. i enjoyed watching his rise domestically, had all the fundamentals and great knockdown artist.

He is british , that means he was never that good , just another british hype job. Look at those british morons making threads about anthony joshua to become the greatest boxer ever.

Think people over-hyped Groves a bit in the first place.

He looked good against an end of the road Froch, and then got decidedly KO'd in the second fight.

Outside of that he has a win over Degale when they were both up and comers.

Also, after last nights result, I actually believe Jack is better than previously thought.

I thought he needed to pace himself better during the first half of the fight. He was much busier than Jack but he wasting too many shots that were hitting Jack's guard and it's not like they were just light shots that wouldn't drain his energy as much either. Jack's a good fighter but that was a very winnable fight for Groves. I thought it was extremely close as it was and I'll have to watch it again so I can score it. I thought he took Jack too lightly as well. He was acting like it was already a foregone conclusion he was going to win during the lead up to the fight.

I've never really rated Groves that highly anyway. I preferred him when he was with Booth. He is a good fighter and I've always thought he's pretty talented but his chin has always been a big concern for me.

I agree. I thought the fight could go either way even though my bet was on Jack (but that was mainly for the better odds). If gg could pace himself he could be as dangerous in the final rounds as in the early. Punching is probably his basic instinct to do when in the ring but he really needs a coach to calm him down to make him last a full fight.

I didn't see where Jack outclassed Groves in that fight. He won the fight but on any given night Groves could just as well have won. Groves is a good fighter and still has a shot at being a champion.

Yes...And Froch would/will damage Degale, and Jack if he decides to fight them.
