I interviewed him on Thursday night along with his uncle/trainer Peter Fury. ALthough he most probably hant had a great education that doesnt mean he isnt clever. During the interview he was very articulate and the two of them showed a good boxing history knowledge (They were talking about Jack Johnson for example). One thing that Peter did say, which is correct, is that if Price were to lose 5 times on the trot, the fight with Tyson would still be marketable. Its a fight that neither man needs right now - win a title then do it. If he wins his next fight and then pulev he is the mandatory. He doesnt want to fight a Klit unless its a mandatory due to the contracts - that appears to me to be a guy who is thinking about things. Interview here: http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=461022
Going the mandatory route is the sensible thing to do, also if he beats Cunningham and Pulev he has earned his shot, which for me personally still means something.
Good article.:thumbsup I wish more fighters would go this route and actually earn a shot for a title...
I still think its the way it should be done, ideally with only one world championship to fight for or at a push 2.
i think you're projecting your own opinions of Price a bit there mate, he comes across as dull as **** tbh. Fury might be a lunatic but at least he's got personality (albeit a split one :rofl) and a bit of charisma.
:rofl That would be fantastic. And you are projecting your own opinions, he's a fighter not an actor I don't give a **** about his personality atleast he doesn't come across as arrogant/ignorant. Fury may be more exciting than Price outside the ring, but inside the ring Price is the more exciting fighter, and that's what sells the tickets.
It's the classic face vs heel with Price and Fury. Price is the well-mannered, well-spoken gentleman who is liked by fans because he's such a nice bloke. Fury is the raging lunatic who trash talks and threatens to beat people up if they ever **** him off. I honestly don't think the whole Liverpool vs Manchester side of it is all that important, it's the contrast in personalities which hypes this fight. Can't wait to see it (whenever it finally does happen).
no I'm giving my own opinion, I'm not claiming most British fans think the same. Was just pointing out that the OP might be a touch biased being a Liverpool based fan.
I don't think Fury v Price will ever happen, Price would have to wait another 15 years before Fury reaches 40, by that time Price would be well past it.
You can guarantee that if he wins a title and becomes a world champ he will go insane and completely off the rails. Hes not that stable now and add fame and money it just isnt a good mix. Price on the other hand comes across a real gentleman. I dont think he would ever change from fame and money. Hes a total professional where fury isnt.
