I'm thinking about the answer to this question and off the top of my head, I am going to say no. They seem great for fighters that have already been with a previous promoter. Can't knock them for that, all promoters do it. However, for a company that claims they are the best company in the world today, I have yet to see them take a fighter from the very beginning and develop them into a star. We're talking about a promotional company that has a great relationship with HBO, has all the resources, and has yet to do it. The guys they are looking to make their stars are Kahn & Ortiz. Ortiz was a top rank fighter & they kept him very active. Would most likely be further along had he stayed. Kahn has star potential, but fighting 1-2 a yr won't make him the ppv star he is looking to be. It's time for Golden Boy to step up there game. Part of being a great promoter is being able to recruit talent & develop them from the very beginning. I know it's not easy, but it's their job.
They are a pretty young promotional company. It takes years to master the promoting of boxing, so give them time.
Danny Jacobs could be one, though Abrner Mares recently lost, he's also GBP promoted from the beginning. Garcia, Wilder and espacially Frankie Gomez are their future home grown stars. Golden Boy also made/making Kirkland, Lara and Alvaraz a star in the States. They are just not in the business long enough to have established stars being built up in the stable.
Abner Mares Danny Jacobs Possibly Deontay Wilder they are a very young promotional company, I'm pretty sure they are younger than Kelly Pavlik's career up to this point.
Not at this point, although they've been working on Jacobs and Mares. I doubt either one becomes a star though. Jacobs is too shy and doesn't have a fan-friendly style, and Mares is in too small of a weight class. If they can turn Khan or Alvarez into US stars, I'll give them some credit. They were established elsewhere before coming to GBP, but both were unknown in the US outside of hardcore boxing circles before they signed with GBP. Then again, Alvarez might be the easiest person ever to turn into a star. He literally has all the pieces you need to make a boxing superstar - hardcore ethnic following, charismatic, good looking guy, exciting style.
Ever since after Baldomir they have fueled Floyd's mainstream popularity so him, yeah. I believe they will turn Wilder, Khan, Ortiz, Alvarez, Jacobs, Lara, and Gomez into forces though, in terms of popularity and accomplishments.
