Funny you say that Squire, i wondered this a few days back, the press conferences, the hatred, seemed so.....correct as if they scripted it. Two ''Bredrins'' turn into enemies....then Haye gives him a shot...hindsight and all that but i wouldn't put it past them.
I also thought the same thing. If Haye really wanted to punish his 'arch rival' why give him the biggest payday of his life and a shot at the world title. :verysad
Would it have been better if Haye blasted him out in Rd 1? Probably not, people would be complaining about that too. At the end of the day anybody with a brain knew what to expect tonight. It was a complete mismatch, thats where the problem stems from. Not whether Haye carried him or not. Nobody that bought or attended can have any complaints, they knew the product they were getting; they know David Haye and they know Audley Harrison and should have been fully aware of what was going to take place. I don't believe for a second most people were oblivious. The only reason to buy/attend was if you wanted to see Audley KO'd and shut up, anyone hoping for a boxing match was pissing into the wind.
I really can't see it because Audley wouldn't mean to fight like that and put all that money and effort into training if he knew he was going down in round 3.
Haye said he will take Audley out for a drink. They are probably in the pub now laughing at how much money they have fleeced from the PPV money and the bet on the 3rd round.
Because it meant Haye made a few million quid for an easy nights work and got a shitload more publicity than he would from any fight bar a Klitschko would be the logical answer.
Nah i'm not actually saying it was rehearsed and that, i mean the hate and that was staged and that it was like this ''Yo David...give me a fight for your title bredrin....you know me and you can do big tings!...'' Haye probably relayed it back to Booth and Booth says ''well he ain't Wlad or Vitali so why not!'' and then they got the ball rolling. The sold it well the both of them and they got £££££.
I honestly kind of feel sorry for anyone who STILL believes this was a near 50/50 fight going into it and that these two were 'the best of enemies' who hate each other and were destined to meet. Sorry to Buncey and other fight fans who tried to hype this as a competitive fight but it was a mismatch from the start and has definitely damaged the reputation of boxing in the long run.
I'm going to watch this again tomorrow, but like I said, from the way both fighters conducted themselves in the ring the integrity of this fight has to be brought into question.
Fair play to Haye to be honest. I think anybody in Hayes position would have fought Audley for £5 million+ and to delay a Klitschko fight. Easiest payday you are likely to see in boxing for a long time.
Why? David Haye started cautiously, because he's a cautious enough fighter. He doesn't want to be getting clocked with punches at heavyweight, everyone is aware of his vulnerabilities. So he waits to see what Audley does, he doesn't want to immediately open up and give away a chance for Audley to counter. By rd 3 he realizes Audley is doing nothing and has bottled it as usual and opens up. Nothing particularly dodgy about what took place, fairly predictable given the buildup and ring personalities it would be tense and cautious initially.
