Yes. I remeber a few years ago - when Haye was a crusierweight he called Valuev - complete garabge - rubbish fighter. I tried to find these comments of google - but have not been able too. Now - he says - if he never fights a Klitshkos - it dont matter - cos no matter what people will always remeber him for beating that big giant. Valuev is crap. Haye just twists and turns things to suit his agenda. When he beat Mormeck - it looked like his career was going the right way. But since then - its all been carefully plotted - and its smoke and mirrors. Enzo - exposed as not world class Barret - journeyman Valuev - huge guy - but oridinary in every other sense Ruiz - solid but average Harrison - exposed even before he fought Haye as not world class. He wont fight the Klitshckos - cos there is no smoke and mirrors there. It looks like Hayes best win of his carrer - will be beating Mormeck.
At the end of the day, you have got to ask yourself one question. Does David Haye put asses in seats, and money in banks....? Yes. He's done more for British Boxing, then all the other current active british boxers. I've never said this before, in the history of my ESB career. But i have just ended this debate, the debate is now over..........Thread needs closing
thats fair enough but the thing that pisses me off is the casual fan buys his tickets and ppvs in the hundreds of thousands and when they see his jokes of cards and fights he puts on i imagine they wouldnt be in a rush to buy a ppv or ticket again invariably hes hurtin the sport a little i know me own mates who arent huge into boxing but baught his crap are put off against buyin anymore ppvs anytime soon
The opposite. Haye is someone now who is known to Joe Public. His appearances on chat shows and the like have done more to generate interest among the public than his fights have to turn them off!! As for real fight fans, well, some like him some dont. Nothing ever changes. I think the only people he has disenfranchised are the casual boxing fans. The ones who watch "big fights" only. Maybe people who had fallen out of love with the sport. And so on. They see how much media attention and stuff he's getting, assume he's the second coming of Tyson and then get disappointed by the outcome. But those people will continue to watch other fights anyway. So, I'd say he's actually generated more interest than he's disuaded.
Every body in England hates boxing because of David Haye. Yet his last two fights in England have sold out the MEN and sold plenty of PPV's. Honestly get a life son.
David Haye pust asses on seats, and money in banks. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DudyRXea8tA[/ame]
yes, he has shown everything that is so right yet so wrong about boxing - heart, knockout power, fighting anyone, terrible voluntary defences, not making unification fights, being boring etc etc
Haye has done the opposite, he created more interest in the sport. To say you're not a haye hater, but he killed boxing in England is wrong. You have got one of those two wrong or both. There aren't many world champions who hasn't fought a few easy fights in their career and haye is no different. Not his fault if harrison was so crap in that fight, haye made harrison look crap in all honesty. A lot of haye haters makes me laugh, Vlad's camp hasn't come out to explain why the fight is not happening in April instead of putting 2nd july date. For the record I dont think neither camp are ducking, just other reasons that hasn't been made public.
If doing nothing for nine months and then putting on a farce against a journeyman like Fraudley while asking punters top stump up £15 to watch it isn't bad for boxing then I don't know what is. Haye is a full on disgrace.
Bull**** thread. If you don't like Haye don't buy his PPV's. He is WITHOUT DOUBT a huge draw in British boxing and has increased interest in the sport. I dont care if his belt is an abc strap. He beat Valuev who had only previously lost twice in over 50 fights and in todays boxing he deserves to be called a world champion. I agree the Harrison fight was shite, I said so from the start...but apart from the K's who else is there for him to fight?!?!?! They are the only credible fighters in the division apart from Haye. When Haye talks his trash it does get on my tits but he is a fighter and a business man and he (and the Klits) are building this fight up to sell tickets and make money. If anyone on this forum says, in Hayes position, they wouldn't try and beef up sales and interest in a fight is lying to themselves. This is what top level boxing is all about. I believe that Haye and Wlad WILL meet later this year. And I believe that Haye will knock him out (IMHO)...then the people on this thread like Flint will have to kiss his arse and admit he was wrong right from the start!! If I am wrong and Haye retires before fighting a Klit or he does and gets KTFO then I will apologise to all.
I disagree, I thought this was better than we possibly could have imagined considering it was a fight involving the king of spoilers, John Ruiz.
Greed and self interest has ruined boxing. The most prestigious prize in sport has been pulled apart by politics. The existence of the alphabets allows the ridiculousness of Haye-Klit and Pac-Mayweather to occur. Everybody's a champion and thinks they've already reached the top just because they wear a crappy belt belonging to a governing body that's interests lie in making money and not in boxing. If ever a sport needed a media to ask questions and make people accountable it's boxing, yet the boxing media turns and looks the other way.
