No I won't give him credit until he beats Tomasz Bonin again.

I give him credit. I'm a fan and see potential. Unfortunately he has many weaknesses/flaws still. Some out of inexperience, other out just bad flaws that need to be worked out.

This performance has me down with Haye's stock though, not up. Defensively he's just awful.

yes me, i had my doubts after the valuev borefest, but watching him fight and wlad, i like haye much more cause he is more exiting in one round than wlad in a whole 12 round fight.
I really would love for him to beat the klits and rule the division, i give him a chance although i favor both of the brothers over him i will still be rooting for haye if it ever goes down.

He would have REALLY won me over if he'd finished the job on Ruiz in the first. But we still owe him a lot of gratitude for ending the disgrace of Ruiz getting undeserved title shot after undeserved title shot.

I don't know about "doubts". It's obvious that he is a talented fighter with speed and power. I am sure happy as hell that he didn't get beat by Ruiz... that would have been horrible. Definitely didn't want the Squeeze to grab a hold of that WBA title. I honestly hope that Haye keeps winning in decisive fashion. I don't want there to be any excuses when he fights Wladimir Klitschko. Haye is a true heavyweight, and he is definitely talented. However... is he going to finally get brave enough to step into the ring with Wlad? That we have yet to see.

I don't think he'll beat either Klit, but don't uou think that he'll adjust against em ? He was gung ho against Barrett cause he fancied himself to knock him out, and he was like that tonight cause he started to feel the same ( tho i felt he shouldve been a bit more careful ) but he played safe against Valuev and I believe Haye and Booth are intelligent enough to come with a decent game plan against a Klit, it may not come off but they aren't idiots and they'll respect what they're facing.

Also I think Haye was eager to put on an exciting performance, if he'd plodded along using his speed and just winning rounds people on here wouldve mugged him off even more

I was impressed with Haye's performance. I thought he would have some issues with Ruiz, but Haye out boxed him quite easily. There were some points in the fight where Haye was moving too much and not throwing much, but for the most part, he showed very good boxing skills and movement. I think the Klitschkos now have a serious threat to worry about.

haye is normally abit more illusive i can see him being troubled by the jab but he has the explosiveness that. a more relentless and agressive fighter with a chin can beat haye but such a fighter doesnt exist in the hw division at the moment. a fight with the klits will be interesting i think the winner will be the person who wants the fight the most simple as that one of then will fold...like a poker game

Great fight. I've been pulling for Haye for awhile, but with this performance it puts any doubts about him being a true HW away. It was a great performance ahd it was an exciting performance.

It's not like he's eating punches, though. I do think he has pretty good defence, because he avoids so many clean shots. It's not perfect, no, but it's good enough.

On a side note, apparently his defence wasn't as good due to a cut which stopped him from sparring. I don't know how much impact that had, but Booth seems to think it was important.

I think his chin has improved now. The difference in his neck and traps between now and at cruiser is huge. He seems to take punches fine, though I'm sure if he gets hit hard, his weaknesses will be shown again. It is better though.

I already knew Haye was too much for Ruiz... so it didn't prove much per se.

Great performance by DH though... (although I was surprised to see him getting hit with those telegraphed right hands)

I never get tired of seeing Ruiz get his ass kicked for some reason.

    Bring on Kali Mehann! War!

End of the day Haye deserves more respect than Chambers, Areola, Toney at HW, if only for the fact he goes into the ring good shape !!!

yeah i wouldnt call his defense awful. It's pretty solid actually, but I wish he would keep his left hand up higher. He gives a lot of upper body movement which I like to see. He just need to keep those hands higher.

I think he actually needs to work on his offensive skills a bit more. His punches could be a lot crisper, and I don't see him putting together many 3-4 punch combinations. He needs go to the body more and tighten up those punches, instead of doing all that wild swinging.

If he went to Ruiz body and put some crisp combinations together, he would of had him out of there a lot sooner.
