    What about Holmes?

    Tarver?

How quick these good wins get underrated by the casual fan.

Johnson had beaten no-one before getting a shot against Hopkins. People say Gary Lockett was a poor opponent, but he was a better challeger to Pavlik, than Johnson was to Hopkins.

I'd leave them off because none of them ever showed any kind of form at the weight where they fought B-hop. In most cases their fight with B-Hop was their only fight at that particular weight - which in every case was a weight that B-Hop was used to fighting at.

Tito showed form, stopped Joppy in 5, Pavlik beat Taylor a couple pounds shy of the weight he came in against Hop

DLH,Jackson you have a point and Winky had no business being at 170.

But there still wins on the resume. Im not getting into a debate on the overall strength of Hop's resume.Thats not what you started the thread about, and i named half a dozen fighters that he fought in their original weightclass who were decent.

I personally feel the only reason this man is an ATG is because of his style of putting peoples styles to shame...making them look amateur, slow, and ridiculous...

The age he began his boxing career and still managing to do what he does at 43 years old...who the **** can say that? Nobody

His resume has great names but under certain circumstances such as anything else. But there should be no excuses for DLH, Trinidad, Pavlik and all the others that had to come up in weight and fight the old man...if their skill calibur was as good as it was in the lower weights, it should carry them over in the higher weights...it's not as if they jumped significant amount of weight classes to fight the man...

So...you can **** on or question his resume all day...but the man will go down in history as one of the most methodical fighters in the sport

Unfortunately those methods include boring the spectators, cheating and (kind off) cherry picking opponents.

And because of that you are correct, you can **** on his resume all day.:good

any 'decent' fighters at their own class? the answer is clearly yes and no further explanation is needed. if you're wondering whether he fought hof/atg's at their proper weight than that is a tougher question tho surely jones for one fits the bill.

Hagler's best wins were against smaller men. Let's bash his resume.

I would hardly say that BHOP has ever been "smacked the **** out of".

Maybe slapped a few more times then what he could throw back :D

    excuses can always be found.

next time you should ask "has Hopkins ever fought a decent fighter at their own weight class who didn't just have to lose around 40 pounds to make the weight after taking 20 months off to appear in a film"
