Yeah, pretty much. He's going to make it an ugly fight. He's going to be completely defensive minded and clinch about 200 times. He won't let it get exciting. And it's going to be close enough where indeed, he can and will ***** about the decision loss. But that's why we love Hopkins isn't it?
Bullsh*t. He has money. He could've fought other lesser people for money. Yeah, he wouldn't have gotten as much but let's get real here, the man is obssessed with his place in history and isn't like DLH who last cared about his legacy about 5 years ago. Hopkins always takes tough fights because he feels like he can win and is the superior boxer. That's why he has fought JTX2, Winky, Tarver, Calzaghe, and now Pavlik. He goes into the fight thinking he can win. It's an ugly style and horrible to watch but he doesn't care. He just wants to win.
I hate watching hopkins fights, I don't know why some people think he's so great. I would love to see pavlik knock him out of the ring.
You don't know why people think hes so great? His record and career speaks for itself really, it can't be denied hes great thats why, look at what he has achived and how close he ran Calzaghe at 43.
Needless to say, I'd like to see Kelly do to B-Hop what he did to JT in thier first fight-maybe justa few rounds sooner. On second thought, B-Hop's done a great deal for boxing though. And for that reason, let'em go to the 12th. and final round b4 he hits the canvas, huh? Pavlik would show Hopkins just how badly 43 can hurt if yu let it.
Calzaghe was guilty of "aiding and abeding" when it came to clinching. He was meeting Hopkins half way. This isn't going to happen with Kelly. Remember, he just "plods" forward. He doesn't jump in like Joe was doing. If Bhop tries to close the distance, he will take punishement. Kelly is younger and stronger and can make him use more energy to clinch than Joe did.
I'm not surprised that quite a few people are picking BHop to win. Pavlik has accumulated quite a number of haters and critics. Many people just can't wait to see him lose. Moreover, the Calzaghe fans need BHop to look good. If Pavlik takes Hopkins out, or scores a clear UD, many would interpret that as meaning that Pavlik is as good as, or better than, Joe. Let me explode a few myths here: Myth number 1: Pavlik is one dimensional. He had an amature record of 89-8, but was not a big puncher until about the time he turned 17. As a pro he beat Miranda by being a better bully than Miranda. He beat McKart by boxing smartly from the outside. He beat Zuniga by winning a war mostly fought on the inside. He beat Taylor the first time mostly by captilizing on Taylor's flaws. If that's one-dimensional, it's okay by me. Myth number 2: Pavlik has no plan B. The second Taylor fight was arguably the best performance of Jermains career. Pavlik injured BOTH hands. The injuries cut down his work rate, and took away his best weapons. He could not use the usual power jabs, and had to conserve the right hand. He still boxed his way to a clear UD. Myth number 3: Pavlik just plods forward. People who say that are either haters, or they just don't know much about boxing. Pavlik's footwork is one of the most under-rated facets of his game. He inches forward carefully behind a very good jab, 1-2 combos, and lead rights. He also cuts off the ring extemely well. I would challenge anyone to name a single instance when Pavlik got himself in trouble by "plodding forward." Myth number 4: Pavlik has a questionable chin. Zuniga has 2 losses on his record. One to Santos, and one to Pavlik. He also has an 80% KO ratio. Pavlik took zuniga's best shots, and stopped Zuniga in 9 rounds. Pavlik ate Miranda's best shots like they were Skittles. Kelly took 15 unanswered shots from Taylor, and stopped JT in seven. All the quetsions about Pavlik's chin have been answered. BHop is a tough night for anyone, but mark my words, Pavlik will beat him by a clear UD or a late TKO. He'll do a good job of staying out of range, and that will take away Bernard's favorite weapons; the clinch, the head butt, and the counter right. Hopkins will start gassing out by mid rounds, by round 9 or 10 Pavlik will move in for the kill, and bounce Hopkins around the ring like a little kid bounces one of those red rubber balls around a play ground.
