Has it been brought up yet that maybe Fury is stalling because Usyk is already 36 years old?

That's a fair point, I don't think he looked amazing vs Whyte (although you don't have to be amazing to beat Whyte).

He maybe a little younger in years compared to Usyk, but it's a fair point to suggest that his lifestyle makes him "older".

Yeah smaller people tend to live longer due to their hearts not having to work as hard to maintain homeostasis. Andre the Giant springs to mind.

The reason why Fury blocks the Usyk fight is obvious.

He knows the end of his career is near. His body is almost done with boxing. He only has 1 or 2 fights left and he probably wants the AJ fight so badly because it's a massive payday in the UK and one of the biggest domestic fights you can get.

Fury is all business at this point.

There you go. I'm proud of you for finally admitting publicly that your cult leader has zero chance against Usyk unless he faces a declined-due-to-age version several years from today.

See, you are able to talk sense once in a while indeed.

Exactly. Fury's overall constitution is a toilet compared to that of Usyk. Fury ballooned up to 400 lbs in his late twenties then dropped back down to around 280 lbs - which is still some 25-30 lbs heavier than his ideal athletic version should be. That alone does irreparable damage to an athlete's body. Add to that the fact that Fury has been drinking and snorting gak for most of his adult life. Fury might be one and a half years younger than Usyk but he abused his body so much that it's him who is in heavy decline, not Usyk. Usyk has always been living clean and he is your consummate professional. His discipline is rare even among top athletes. Even if he declined, it's ever so slight and he is still very close to his prime. Fury, on the other hand, has been heavily on the slide since the second Wilder fight. He was visibly slower and more sluggish in the third Wilder fight, then even slower against Whyte and slower still against Chisora. His legs are clearly going, whereas Usyk is still able to box a full 12 rounds in a stick-and-move merchant style with movement and pace which are indeed looking like the work rate of a middleweight.

Fury is toast compared to Usyk, in every possible way that matters in boxing. He won't be able to do sweet Fanny Addams with his size because Usyk's foot speed, balance and movement are just so much superior. He is not a stationary Wilder whom the fat blob can just cling to at will. Fury will gas out in 8, no matter what he does - whether it's trying to pin Usyk down or bully him around, it doesn't matter. He will be shot by the championship rounds and that's when Usyk turns the heat up and throws 80+ punches per round. And make no mistake: Fury is very knowledgeable about boxing. He knows all of this. There's a reason he has been dicking around with this fight for over a year now. He has nothing on Usyk and is just desperate to find a way out of this fight - again.

    Agreed.
Anyone who understands the sport knows that punch accumulation can be devastating to the hardest of chins and even more so to the body, especially an out of condition mid section. The problem opponents of Usyk have had is the angles! He throws from all angles and with very good precision.

So ... Fury may benefit from fighting an older Usyk given that his fundamental advantage of size will never vanish and Usyk may well slow down from his heyday. However, there's a lot more to Usyk's game than just speed and he has some of the most comprehensive skills I've seen at heavyweight. Fury on the other hand seems to have lost the mobility and sharpness of movement he showed against Wlad. He's also not a gym rat like Usyk seems to be. What I'm saying is: this may backfire on Fury if he can't put Usyk away early and find's himself in round 9 with an empty gas tank and Usyk is starting to fire on all cylinders thanks to his superb stamina

Both are shot to pieces at the end of their careers. Fury has had both elbows shaved and it's a miracle he's not had any of his ankles pinned. Usyk's right shoulder doesn't exist anymore and he's probably got elbow issues also. Stick them in the old people's home.

Usyk still seems good mate. Maybe that's why Fury doesn't want it. If Fury had the dedication that some of these other guys show, he may well have been the giant figure that he is in his imagination.

If Usyk was still good he wouldn't want Fury and only Fury. He has already stated it's Fury or retirement.

Fury is the top challenge for him right now. Why wouldn't he want the fight?

    Tyson Fury isn't stalling.

I posted much of this in another thread but it works here, too.

People complain about Fury's stalling and waffling, and how he "never fights" and all that.

But Fury just fought three months ago. :)

Usyk couldn't fight last December when Fury wanted to fight. Usyk said he couldn't fight this month (because of his religion).

Usyk has fought once a year since he moved to heavyweight.

In fact, since Usyk beat Joshua the first time, Tyson Fury has fought three times to Usyk's one.

And Fury will probably end up fighting someone in April in the UK, which means, Fury will have fought four times (to Usyk's one fight).

Fury has actually been one of the most active top heavyweights for a couple years now. So people seriously need to cool it with this Fury bashing.

Everyone wants to see a unified title, but it ISN'T happening in the UK unless fans there are willing to pay the same for PPVs that fans in the US pay.

If this fight is so huge and it needs to happen in the UK, then pay $95 for the PPV (like we do).

Otherwise, there won't be enough money in the pot. And Fury can make as much or more on his end just giving some contender a shot and taking an 90-10 purse split.

Once the fight moved to England, the odds of it coming off plummeted. Because fans won't pay enough for PPVs to generate the income both boxers want. And if Fury split the money with Usyk 50-50 or 60-40, he's making less than he made against Whyte and Chisora.

Fury's giant gypsy skinnyfat genes will age more poorly than Usyk's, aging him out would be worse for Fury in my opinion

    DKSAB take.

Big men age better. The size disparity advantage gets bigger as each year passes past Usyk's prime.

Cruiserweight Usyk in his late 20's and early 30's stood a better chance to beat Fury. This fight is always about workrate and footspeed for Usyk. With age that doesn't get better for him.
