Pascal does appear to enjoy showing up at fights as a spectator these days rather than doing anything in the ring, and Erdei's resume is not exactly a profile in courage. My inclination however is that neither might be at fault for this for the simple reason that a Haymon fighter was forced onto the undercard. That's the simplest explanation for why there wasn't enough money to go around, and it's not like Espinoza has proven to be an especially smart matchmaker so far.
I don't know what's going on with Pascal, i hope that they will find a fight for him soon, he hasn't been active for a long time..
We'll get Pascal-Dawson II late this year IMO, so no worries. Would very much like to smash that girl in your avatar btw. Would smash all day.
Two things, Pascal seems to think he is worth more than he is, and he also seems just plain scared to fight top level competition. Erdei now, falling through, Cloud fell through, blatant refusal to even fight Silakh, etc.
Nice 'fail' post. They were getting pre-main event money for Pascal-Erdei and it's not necessarily Pascal who wanted too much. Don King asked for ridiculous options on Pascal's next 3 fights for the Cloud fight. After facing Dawson and Hopkins, fighting Sillakh who's looking to get his first opportunity at world level is less of a piece of drama than Sturm avoiding Golovkin for instance, if you consider that GGG holds a belt and that Sillakh is pretty much the biggest high risk / low reward fight at LHW. Not enough money for Pascal-Erdei sounds about right, since most of the money for April 14th on SHO was going to Taylor-Alcine.
I think he should have risked fighting Sillakh now, on HBO in Montreal, since Dawson has recently mentioned he doesn't feel like he needs to fight Pascal any time in the future anyways, unless Pascal owns a belt. Pascal may not get the chance at a belt anymore unless he puts himself in a mandatory position, hence the Sillakh fight. There aren't many options at 175lbs, considering B-Hop may get out if Dawson beats him like he should. In the end, win or lose, Pascal will always have that big money fight with Bute down the road, therefore any present taken risk will not hinder that big money down the line.
She may be legal now but I don't think she was at the time of the picture. Once she's 18 I concur completely. As for Pascal, the guy at minimum she be staying busy with a lesser fighter if they can't make make the Cloud/Erdei type fights. Pascal has plenty of stuff he should be working on against lesser competition anyway. I don't think inactivity will plug the wholes in his game.
One of the key things to do with Pascal, is strip some of that muscle off of his top half, and see if it improves his stamina.
atsch  :good He can't afford another schooling. Sillakh is by definition the highest risk, lowest reward amongst potential opponents out there at LHW. I agree that a lesser fight would A) get him to regain some confidence, and B) get him 'comfortable' rounds so he can tweek whatever he trained for in camp. I think a fight vs Cloud would be spectacular. If GYM don't want another shot at the WBC belt purely because Sillakh is in the picture, the IBF route could be the way to go for Pascal in 2 fights from now.
I think it's both. Many said Pascal should take a stay busy fight but he only wants money fights. And at the same time, Erdei did pull out of the negociations.
That's a very good idea. Pascal is huge in the upper body. When I was lifting weights heavily my boxing stamina went to crap. You don't need to look like Mr. Olympia to be a boxer, especially when your lack of stamina was exposed by a guy closer to 50 than 40.
I think the american promoters are now relectant to sign anything with the Quebec's promoter who can get people in the stands. They are not signing anything so that the promoters don't get any TV money. With the UFC, the dates available are becoming rare and the promoters are trying to get rid of some competition by not giving any big fights. Pascal - Bute anyone?
