Basically, the whole idea that Joe has a stlye that doesn't get results is entirely silly. He's hurt just about every guy he's been in the ring with. If all he was, was pitty patter arm punches - do you not think with his swarming style, gaping holes in defense and propsentiy to clown around and drop his hands that he wouldn't have been walked through and broken apart by a guy like Lacy? The idiocy of people like JonOli towards Calzaghe makes me laugh.
Do a search on posts made by JonOli. 80% are about Joe Calzaghe and usually attempting to pick a little thing like the Manfredo fight and attempt to evolve it into "Joe Calzaghe is absolutely useless" - all the while throwing out "oh but I like Joe Calzaghe"
I think something like "Off" would work quite well for those punches that are akin to pugislistic mosquito "pity pats" :yep I am still at a loss for how someone who purportedly hit Bernard more than he's ever been hit in his career and Bernard looked like he just visited a spa and got a facial.....either he wasn't really hitting him or his punches pack the wallop of a gnat.....I don't know which of those alternatives is worse....:huh
I really couldn't tell. He switched sided midstream on me. He indicates it was a BS stoppage and then says Joe should be the blueprint for future fighters.
Well, boxing is still entertainment and it wows the crowd, but if a judge gives credit for punches that have NO prayer of doing damage and weren't meant to, lets put the head gear on them and paint the white squares on their gloves. Then boxing = fencing.
I'm not trying to pick on Calzahge - I'm simply asking if he has lost his speed. Personally I don't think he has lost a lot of his speed.
Exactly - I am just asking about Joes speed nowadays. This is not a hate thread like fanboy there proclaims.
Yes, his speed has declined and he's got to pick and choose when to throw hard shots because of his hands. He can throw fast shots still, but they don't have the pop on them they once did. To Joe's credit, he's adapted his style now to one that takes advantage of what he still has going for him- workrate, conditioning, experience, and his still above average speed- and is still a world class fighter because of it.
Feel free to search me, most of the time I'm giving tips about running or boxing lounge advice, not to mention talking about Hopkins, Pavlik, Oscar De la Hoya, The Klitschkos, Floyd. Could it be that I like champion fighters and tear the ass of people like you who constantly write threads day in day out about them?
I've been here since November and written less threads, and posts then the vast majority of people who have been here for far a shorter time. If insulting people on Internet forums is your thing may I suggest you go elsewhere. You are on ice already. I'm honestly not interested in your frivolities multi ID guy.
