He has 1 year layoff and didn't look real bad in the Hatton fight consideing the previous layoff and the opponnet and the venue.I always liked the guy. I know he quit boxing after the loss to Harris and started a restaurant branch but came back when the Hatton call came. Did he call it a day?
If I had to guess I'd say he did. He may come back for the right offer/opportunity, but all in all I'd say he's lost his interest/motivation. He's strictly a hired gun at this point, IMHO.
He got a gift against Garnica and was outclassed by Harris prior to Hatton. Hes already made $ from the Hatton fight, no reason for him to continue.
no he hasn't retired, believe it or not he came to my gym out here in sacramento(where he trains) a few weeks back to spar with a guy i train with,he looked pretty good and he told my trainer he's getting ready to fight again soon but i duno if that's the truth or not
i'm not sure because usually when fighters aren't officially training for a fight they don't have their trainers come down until it's time for camp to start, and i'm assuming shields is getting juarez ready for the john fight.he aslo came with a mexican guy in his corner when he was sparring, his face wasn't familiar
Well if anything new happens let me know. Isn't ther the possibility he is just training to stay in shape while being retired or he is focused to come back.
id say he retired, he only fought hatton for the cash, with proper training he could have got hatton out of there when he had him on ***** street
