Honestly Chef...........not hating but that Iggy fight turned everyone off. I watched him blast out guys like Mercer and hard punchers with no fear before Sanders got him................He could have made a big statement in the US by just letting it go against a terrified IGGY but wouldn't. He could have ended that fight anytime he wanted. It REALLY hurt him with casual fans in the US. No way Iggy had even a punchers chance, 4 rounds tops to KO him if Wlad let his hands go. Look what Manny did with Clottey who was more dangerous, he tried like hell to get to his chin to please the fans , basically the same situation only Wlad WAS the BIG MAN.

    no worries my friend.

i agree with you about that fight. Team Klitschko have had many talks about it. Wlad knows and is aware of it

BUT IMO Hbo is being short sided in not showing his fights. People might say 'I wont watch him fight" but trust me, if he is on HBO, they will watch

I am a Klitschko fan, especially of Wladimir, and W. Klitschko vs. Ibragimov is to this day my one and only fight I have ever seen live (as flying to Germany for every Klitschko match would be quite expensive) and I don't remember the crowd reaction being anywhere near as bad as some of you are stating. I think the negativity is generally overstated on this forum. I certainly don't remember anybody leaving early. There were a huge number of Russian and Ukranian fans and they went back and forth chanting "I-brag-i-mov" and "Klitsch-ko" for many rounds (with the Klitschko fans winning that battle) until it became pretty obvious that Klitschko was going to win.

:deal:thumbsup I was there also (obviously) and I remember it the same as you do
Its the haters that say 'people walked out during the fight":patsch

The haters make it sound worse then it was. It wasnt a great fight, but EVERY fighter has had the same problem

Problem is they don't NEED an under card to sell the fight. Hell, I've been to a few fights where the seats don't start filling up until close to the main event anyhow. Me? I like to see the whole event. Show some appreciation to the under card events. Some of these guys are having their first pro fight. Plus I beat the crowd.

Manny, "We don't need another bull**** decision...." Sound familiar? As his own promoter, Wlad has more to think about than just winning his fight. He needs people wanting to see more.

Yeah trips to picturesque Austria and Mallorca must be a drag, all that fresh air and scenery. Smog, traffic and commotion of LA is where it's at. :D

I gotta agree the undercards are crap. I'm tired of seeing same ole Jonathon Banks and Alexander Ustinov putting up crappy fights nearly every time out. They are a young promotion company and don't have the kind of stable yet to draw much attention on big cards, especially in America. Tough position for K2 to contend with, along with US tv coverage.

What people? People who watch brutal MMA fights? Wlad made a very good technial matchup against Iggy, and Ibragimov took the shots very well. It is boxing with tactics and so on.

Boxing is not a violent street brawl. Ibragimov was a very defensive fighter with good defensive tactics and Wlad did the right thing so Ibragimov could not counter him like Sanders did. Wlad learned from his false!

A boxer has to win his fights not to entertain people who wants to see brutal matchups!

Tactical matchup and Haye got the decision, Hoylfield made a better fight and did not get it. Haye signed with Sauerland and King, that was the reason, he good the decision and Sauerland and King thinks they can make more money with Haye.

Every fighter had fights the public critize them. Lewis vs. Tua for example. The great Ali had these fights too.

Sorry but no! Fans and tv networks pay a good chunk of his salary. It IS his job to win AND entertain. People don't want to spend 500 euros or more to go see a fight (and theatrics associated with the walk-in) and watch someone clearly winning a technical matchup, who obviously has the talent and ability to end a fight, and doesn't push to do so.

Wlad admitted himself he needed to do more. Everytime round 10 comes along, Manny gets agitated and starts breathing fire down Wlad's neck to end the show. Winning isn't always enough!

Right. You have to sell tickets. This isn't strictly a sporting event like the Olympics. Many fighters acknowledge this openly.

Do you think his girl's stature, increases his marketability? I've seen pictures of them both in the paper recently, which would have been unheard of before. It's actually pretty cool seeing one of my favourite fighters getting mainstream exposure. Sadly, they just refer to him as "boxer Wladimir Klitshcko" rather than the best fighter in the entire world.

Not the way it came across on TV. People were heckling, HBO's team were disgusted, Manny was disgusted, Bert Sugar was disgusted.

Here is old Bert after the fight.
