TWO tuneups. The 2015 fight wasn't related.

Primes last longer today athletes take better care of themselves in between bouts and also have longer lay offs to rest between bouts. Kovalev won 9-10 rounds on my card against a very good top 7 opponent, who has never been stopped and was very big on his own right. Has Kovalev looked better sure he has, but I still believe it was a good performance.

Haha wow what a surprise kovalev is now past prime just before he sees ward. What a convenient thing for his fans

Only in boxing can an off night mean the whole thing is crumbling down.

Heaven forbid Brand actually lands 4 punches on Andre. We'll see some of this same stuff come up about how Kovalev is facing a rusty, past prime Ward, too.

Richmondpete, I am a fan of boxing, not a fan of Kovalev or Ward. Kovalev was born in 1983, he is 33 now. I don't consider my question as a strange one. I have to repeat - I don't care for race, ethnicity, religion etc...etc...I love boxing...I have no hiden intentions....Let us discuss about boxing, fook the pigment..

Wasn't targeting you specifically. Just saying that there are a lot of threads similar to this popping up suddenly and it would be a shame for either fighter to not get full credit for a win provided the decision was just.

No. He's well into his prime. Chilemba is a tricky customer but Kovalev was a CLEAR victor. Chilemba was full of mostly arm punches.

Kovalev remains a great fighter. I had Chilemba winning 3 rounds, 4 at most.

Ward is less than a year younger though, yet you haven't createda thread about him being passed prime? He has an injury history to boot and he hasn't looked as good his last 2 fights.

Three days ago, Kovalev was only a shadow of himself (against Hopkins, Pascal etc...). If Ward against Brand (?) do the same, I will open new thread, the same day...

OK...I am not your enemy, you are boxing fan, me too...

  12. Didn't you know, you are not meant to get hit in combat sport, if a fighter gets caught even though he wins, he's shot. It's meant to be full domination

Fair enough. Do you believe the excuses Kovalev is giving for his poor performance? I haven't known him as a guy who makes bs excuses, so I do believe he was not feeling like himself that fight. I don't personally believe it is age related.

he ought to have 2 or 3 other fights in the division, he has to earn his oats in this new division.

if he didn't have em would you criticise him for getting an automatic title shot?
