The only time he was down was because he hurt his hand, not because of a punch that knocked him down.

However, he was knocked down by a punch of Zab Judah and it wasn't counted.

Anyway, Mayweather has been knocked down once.

No. Pernell shades him skill wise, and has a better resume. Nelson, McGirt twice and lets be honest here, Chavez and prime DLH are considerably better than PBF's resume

I think it is very close possibly Pernell just as for people saying Floyd just beat a guy out of weight Sweet Pea biggest performances against Chavez (a light welterweight never achieved much at 147lbs) and Nelson who only fought at lightweight twice against Pernell and his last fight. Plus Floyd started at a lower weight then Hatton while Whittaker started at a higher weight then both Chavez and Nelson.

Watch the fight. It was you who said Whitaker won by only a point, not the judges.

Ever watched a fight which was more or less a shutout, yet was too close on the cards?. Just watch Whitaker v Nelson.

Yup, Whitaker won about 11 or 12 rounds in that fight. The judges made it too close.

top 50?! You are out of your mind! I mean, i don't think floyd has surpassed Sweetpea, but you HAVE to have Floyd top 20 at LEAST !! Even with taking personal bias into account!

I say that Pernell beat a more able-bodied DLH (despite the ruling: I think Pernell won.) than mayweather did. Also- I think that floyd's defense hasn't surpassed Whitakers (which we both of their strong suits.)
I give Pernell top 10fighters and floyd makes my top 15. I think if he has 2 more big fights perhaps a Paul Williams, Miguel Cotto, Shane Moseley, Vernon Forest, or (this would be a stretch but would solidify him in top 10) Winky Wright. Hed be top 10 and definitely be up there WITH Pernell Whitaker.

PBF is the modern-day truth. He just needs the exclamation point at the end of his career. 2 of the aforementioned names i think would do JUST the trick.

I think Floyd has a little more versatility then pea. On offense and defense.

I think that Floyd is ahead of Sweet Pea to be honest

The way he fought Hatton and then finished him off with that Left Hook was awesome, the amount of flush power punches he hit Hatton with and his defence, it was a total Masterpiece.

When you look at Floyds full body of work in the sport their isnt many guys that rank ahead of him, 6 World Titles in 5 Different Weight Classes is something not many guys have done, not even Whitaker.

He has an awesome resume now and i don't think anyone on this board can say he hasn't with a straight face.

He has made alot of future Hall of Famers look ordinary and if he walked away from this sport today not many people could question his greatness.

Whitaker has a better defence than Mayweather. Both are all time greats in that aspect, but Pea is better. Pep and Whitaker are the best ever.

Mayweather is better than Mayweather on offense.
