Sweet Pea sure loved his coke. Sweet Pea is better than Pretty Boy. Floyd is avoiding the real threats just like Sweet Pea avoided the fight with a young Chavez for many years. Sweet Pea did beat Chavez when they finally fought but it didn't do much for his resume because Chavez was done by then. Both are great runners and are swift as hell and makes them both boring as hell to watch. Don't give me that this is the sweet science blah blah ****. Fans want to see heart and guts in a fight not pot shots and grab and run.
This is just a mad post, this is the sweet science , you call that blah blah **** ? You need to watch something else. Chavez had just looked prolific in annihilating Greg Haugen and beating up Camacho before the Whitaker fight , he wasnt done . Chavez contested the fight and hit hard , but Whitaker won (i had him ahead by 8 points, a massive margin, just opinion though).
If you cannot appreciate Pea standing right infront of a guy. Making him miss and throwing 1000 punch's a fight you are not a boxing fan. :good
This is just a mad post , sweet scirnce blah blah ****? You need to watch a different sport. Chavez had just looked prolific in beating Greg Haugen and Camacho , he wasnt done . Madness
Your post makes no sense. You start out the post by asserting that Whitaker is better than Floyd. However, the rest of your post, in no way, supports your argument. If anything, it detracts from your argument. Have you been sniffing the nose candy Sweet Pea style?
I think it can be aruged that as a lightweight. Whitaker is as good as or better than. Benny Leonard, Joe Gans, and Roberto Duran. At jr. lightweight I think Alexis Arguello, Azumah Nelson, and Julio Cesar Chavez were all better than Mayweather was. I fell Manny Pacquiao is as good as Mayweather at 130. Yes Maywearher was very good at 130 but I think there are boxers at 130 that rank a head of him.
Dont think FLoyd surpassed Sweet Pea yet. Sweet Pea did fight the better opposition. Floyd could get closer with a win over Cotto IMO And h2h, I think prime for prime, Sweet Pea gets at Floyd IMO
Manny Pacquiao is behind Floyd in terms of h2h, skills, and resume at 130, the fact that you said that they're equal at 130 says alot about how you judge fighters. There's no way I would rank Nelson or Chavez ahead of Floyd at 130. You could make an argument for Arguello, but he's still behind Floyd. All of these fighters are behind Floyd in terms of H2H and skills at 130.
Chavez was done? He was still the P4P best in the business at the time, though maybe not quite prime, but certainly nowhere near "done". He had some very good wins at or around that time. He had beaten Haugen badly earlier in the year, and still had wins over Randall and Taylor coming. Whitaker was not at his best here either. And obviously you've not seen much or any Whitaker in action if ytou consider him a pot-shotter or holder.
First of all Whitaker has the advantage of having unified all 3 at the time of the 135 belts something Mayweather has not been able to do. This may not be completely Mayweather's fault but I still take this into concerdiition. It is not the only thing I took into concerdition. My own light rankings has Whitaker at #2 behind Benny Leonard. Gans and Duran are intechangable at #3 and 4. I can see where any order of these 4 would make sense. I also think that there is a gap between #4 and #5 at lightweight. I try to rank boxers on their talent. to be fair this is completly opion and acomplishments, in other words a long time as a tittle holder or champion, winning mutipal titles and level of comption. The problem I have with Head 2 Head which I may agree with you that Mayweather probly has the advantage is that inless there is a prime for prime match up in real life it is spectulve. I beleve that Mayweather would beat Pacquaio, Nelson, Chavez and Arguello but becuse there was never a prime for prime match up at 130 I don't know that. Ranking boxers espicialy all time greats is a mater of opinion. I'm not saying that I'm right and your wrong but I Don't agree with you that Mayweather clearly ranks as high or higher at 130 as I rank Whitaker at 135.
This debate between us started because you said that there is an argument to made that Pernell is the best ever at LW, and that you could not make an argument that Floyd was the best at any weight class he fought in. This of course is ridiculous. If want to rank another fighter over Floyd at 130, that's fine. However, if your saying that Floyd is so far behind at 130 that you can't make a good argument that he was the best ever in that division, I'm going to strongly dissagree with you. Especially when you tell me that Pac is equal to Floyd at 130. Pac has never even won a title at 130. His only notable win at 130 was his second fight with Morales(Morales was done by the time of their 3rd fight, ditto with his second fight with MAB).
