That was Lampley I believe, and all it goes to show you is that he's a fool. Not saying Whitaker was neccessarily better than Leonard, but to compare someone to Whitaker from a negative perspective is about as backwards as it gets.

Well I disagree entirely, seeing as how I said, Whitaker started higher and competed at the higher weights more frequently than Mayweather is. Baldomir may have been more clear cut due to walk around weight, but it's no less a point about the height/reach argument. Whitaker may or may not have been softer, that is surely a subjective argument, just as the rest of this is.

Lastly, even if he was slightly smaller than Mayweather, DLH was MUCH bigger when he fought Mayweather than he was when he fought Whitaker.

It was definately Merchant. I can only assume that they made the negative Whitaker comparison to illustrate that Floyd was too defensive and not enough of a crowd pleaser.

I don't think Mayweather is really smaller than Whitaker. But he was smaller compared to DLH than Whitaker was to DLH. Not sure how big the ring was in the Whitaker fight compared to the Mayweather fight either, maybe it was. In any case, I don't really think it was material. Whitaker didn't really go near the ropes.

To me, that Whitaker was landing cleaner shots nullifies the fact that Mayweather was landing harder shots, becuase most were being blocked or deflected before they impacted DLH. Whose shots were more effective? Did DLH look effected by Floyd's shots? Floyd would occasionally throw in a stinging punch that landed clean, but most were clubbing shots being picked off without much effect at all. I think punch stat actually made FLoyd look better than he was, for though he was landing power shots not many were damaging shots.

Floyd was blocking or outright making DLH miss with many shots as well, don't get me wrong there, it's just that I think Floyd's effectiveness in this fight generally gets overplayed.

Floyd took over in rounds 10 and 11 and that's all. They were big rounds for Mayweather, but all the other rounds were fairly close with neither man getting a really really clear advantage. I think it's a myth that Mayweather took over during the middle rounds. How did he? Rounds 6,7,8 and 9 were all fairly close. And round 12 was a close one as well.

I don't really have an argument against anyone that has Floyd the winner by 2 or 3 points, becuase many rounds were close, but I do take issue with those scoring it 9-3 for Floyd. Simply wasn't the case imo.

Nothing to do with the size of the person, but more the size of their character. Whitaker fought all the best, and was around longer than Mayweather has been thus far, so it's not as fair to say yet.

I didn't argue that Baldomir was bigger, you did.

It's not that subjective, look at the two, Mayweather is clean cut muscle, Pea had some extra, especially in his latter days at WW, and in his fight with Vasquez.

Fatter yeah, but bigger? Same size, slower and less skilled. Not a big difference.

Either way, as I said, it comes down to this, Mayweather was at no more of a disadvantage as far as size than Whitaker was. Both were smaller men, to me Pea clearly looked the smaller man than Mayweather did. But to argue not only in favor of Mayweather being smaller, but to use it an argument for him like you did in your post to SS, is a bit off in my estimation.

Blind? Hell no, that was a very close fight, that most don't mention as far as I see it. They mention it as a close call that narrowly went to Whitaker.

Go jerk off or something, this debate was a lot more pleasant without your nonsense.

On the Whitaker-Mayweather size issue: I think Whitaker never really came in as a solid welterweight. He did fight plenty there, but really (and his performances in comparison to lightweight are evidence for this) he did so largely by not being in as good shape at welterweight as he was at lightweight, not by outgrowing the lightweight division and having to campaign at higher weights.

The fact that Floyd's performances haven't dropped off as much as Whitaker's did at heigher weights shows you that Floyd is coming in more solid than Whitaker was at the higher weights.

A look at their bodies could show you that too. Whitaker was quite defined and muscular at 135 pounds. Not the case at 147. Contrast this with Floyd. He actually looks more muscle bound now than before.
