Has Mike Tyson ever got off the canvas to win a fight?

That sounds fine until you contextualise the wins against Spinks and Holmes

Regardless, Spinks was utterly atrocious and all you have to do is watch the clip of the bout to realise that. It's funny how you're trying to pass that off as a good win.

Who did Tyson beat, then? List the top five wins.

How is it not a good win ? Michael Spinks was 31-0 and is considered an ATG. It would be comparable today if Tyson Fury dominated and destroyed Usyk.

You said Larry Holmes was old yet he never got stopped again in his entire career, whilst showing impressive feats after Tyson loss going 12 tough rounds with a prime Holyfield and schooling Mercer.

You should read up about the 80s Heavyweights Larry Holmes was a long reigning champion. And failed to unify the division not fighting some notable names like Pinklon Thomas. Well Tyson did what Holmes failed to do, and that was unify and clean out the division in just a few short years.

Tyson in 80s was 10-0 in world title fights with 8 stoppages, unified and cleaned out the division beating every worthwhile contender.

You are playing the name game. Just because Spinks was somewhat of a name (although not at heavyweight), doesn't mean that his performance lived up to that name in the Tyson bout. It was an absolute stinker of a performance. Firstly, Usyk is much better than Spinks and secondly, he would never make it possible for an opponent to do to him what Tyson did to Spinks, because he's too good for that to happen. Usyk wouldn't ever go into a bout scared stiff like that and looking to cash in and get out of the sport.

Holmes was old a shadow of his former self.

Name them, then. You don't seem to want to name Tyson's top 5 wins. Because they're subpar. He doesn't have any good wins.

Somewhat of a name ? Michael Spinks is considered a top 5 ATG at Light Heavyweight, and dethroned a 48-0 Larry Holmes who had made 20 title defences at Heavyweight. Usyk much better Spinks ? as a Heavyweight ? probably. Although Usyk never had to fight the likes of Larry Holmes or a prime Mike Tyson. And Anthony Joshua, Dereck Chisora, isn't in the same league as either fighter.

Again you keep saying Larry Holmes was old and a shadow of himself, but yet i already told you Larry Holmes was never stopped again after Tyson brutally KO'ed him. Whilst showing impressive feats going 12 close rounds with a prime Holyfield, and schooling an undefeated Mercer.

These were all top 10 ranked Heavyweights when Tyson beat them.

    Trevor Berbick = Ranked 6
    Bonecrusher Smith = Ranked 2
    Pinklon Thomas = Ranked 5
    Tony Tucker = Ranked 3
    Tyrell Biggs = Ranked 9
    Carl Williams = Ranked 3

Along with as i already said two wins over two ATG's in Holmes, Spinks, who've only ever been stopped by Mike Tyson. And you can throw in Frank Bruno who is a big punching Heavyweight, with a big booming right hand in the same vein as Deontay Wilder.

Not being down in his wins is no more a strike against him than scaring any of his opponents, and, yet, it often is counted this way, because people are inherently stupid and bad and wrong. Stubadong. People are inherently stubadong.

Mike Tyson is the type that requires too much to take down, but once you do, you got him.

Yep! Good call. They are both guys who when faced with someone who was willing to not shell up and fire back at them with similar firepower… they got that intense offensive minded energy knocked out of them quick. Especially Tyson.

No one is saying they'd think more highly of him for being dropped in one of his wins but if he'd managed to get up and win in one of his losses that would lift his status.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge of what happened behind the scenes of the Holmes negotiation. However, I think King was 100% responsible for the shadiness. Despite the result, KO by 4, Holmes did not embarrass himself. The 90's version of Holmes is a testament to the widely accepted truth in boxing that developing a good jab is one of the best things a young fighter should aspire to do.

Don't know how to message you personally. Just saw your post in 2009 from a thread, where you said you saw the Tyson/Sims fight. I'm curious about that.
