Well in the sense that hes been plagued by injuries in recent years, yes, it has been a touch unkind

I've never stopped watching or loving boxing but never felt comfortable with the forum side of it but boxing is king and we are at a golden time in the sport so why not enjoy it and have a laugh to. Ps the missis has gone too :happy

His dominance at Cruiserweight is overstated. He has had two excellent wins over Mormeck and Macarinelli, but he never faced the number two in the division - Cunningham and his reign there was pretty short.

As for his heavyweight adventures - he never gave himself the best chance to succeed there, he clearly could have been a very good number two in the division, but put on a pathetic performance against Wlad and lost his interest in boxing.

Macarinelli? I was at the Khan v Bererra fight and he fought Afolabi on the undercard and was dreadful. I'm no armchair fan. So for you to say Macarinelli was an excellent performance speaks volumes in the credibility of your post.

What on earth are you talking about?

I am confused with the tone of your post, initially you are saying that he was dominant at Cruiserweight and then you are denigrating his dominant win against a WBO holder. Considering Haye's lack of wins against world class opponents in that division, you are contradicting your own claim.

In your desire to argue over the internet, you are confusing yourself!

No my point was there was little resistance at cruiserweight apart from Mormeck so he had little choice than to step up but Macarinelli is not a good example of Hayes record. You said "Macarinelli excellent win" Macarinelli is a half decent domestic level fighter. Im not confused.

Haye just wanted quick money without risking his health at HW. He has said that many times. He never wanted to be in big, memorable fights. He wanted to cash out, quickly without getting brain damage.

Good for him. He's laughing all the way to the bank.

Well, he didn't fight Cunningham, which would be his biggest test in the division. Relatively speaking Macarinelli was a good win - if you look at the odds before the fight, Haye was a favourite, but not an overwhelming one.

In any case the main point of my reply was that he didn't do himself too many favours at heavyweight in terms of legacy.

I wish people would stop comparing Haye and Holyfield. One of them is an all-natural athlete who has never been busted using steroids and the other is Holyfield.
