And FWIW, there isn't a standing 8-count in the amateurs for the most part either. The states that eliminated standing 8-counts did so for both amateur and professional boxing. The rationale was that if you're hurt badly enough to get the 8-count, then you're hurt badly enough to just stop the fight.
