Has Nonito Donaire got the potential to be the next Manny Pacquiao?

I think its a mistake to think he won't carry power at 130 though regardless of whether he makes it that far or not. He would have sparked Ricky Burns out. Fana too. Dunno about Uchiyama as I've not seen enough.

Being optimistic I suppose he could have 4 years. Everyones different and he doesn't have the benefit of Roids () however Pacquiao still looks strong at 32. Donaire has hardly any wear and tear. Like none at all.

Damn, you no what, I had no idea he was that old! We always look at him as a guy who could one day raise to the Lightweight ranks and rule the world, but he has been horribly inactive of late, and im concerned his best years might be fast apporaching. I wonder if his stay at 122 will be short lived because of this.

 

He certainly has the potential with his blend of speed, power, athleticism and skills. He is already working his way through the weights. Many believe he may have another weight class or two in his frame. I think in his next step up in weight we will begin to see even more fanfare. He is considered top 4 P4P by many so the pressure will be on for him to fight the best out there.

I want to see some consistency in his career. His weight jumping has seen quality wins but no consistency in dominating a division, winning titles etc

He is unified champ at Bantam. He can get some good wins, defences and belts at that class. The Narvaez fight isn't too bad because he is fighting a Flyweight/Super Flyweight that he didn't fight when he himself was a Flyweight/Super Flyweight.

I'm sure many of us would like to see him mix with Mares for the IBF and Moreno for the WBA. 2 good fighters. He has options to defend against other good fighters like Vic.

 

If I was Nonito...

Narvaez, Mares-Agbeko II winner, Nishioka, Rigondeaux, Jhonny Gonzalez, Gamboa.

Done, if he wins all these, guaranteed ATG. How high? Depends on the manner of victory of course, but it'd be a very good resume with some impressive weight achievements.

 

With his time frame, I'm not sure they'll be much point in the Mares - Agbako winner tbh. It's pretty clear he takes Mares out in 4 (for me anyway), and while Ag will probaby be tougher stylistically, he doesnt pose much threat IMO.

I think he should ust leave the division after Narvaez and take on Nishioka, thats the one I really want to see. Rigo is still too raw as a pro. It'll be a good fight tho

 

He will bomb Nishioka out within 5 IMO.

I dunno, Nish is a tough lad (gets a tad overrated on this forum after the BinMan win mind). But that straight left is a cracking shot, and it would be intereting to see if Nonito takes it well.

Saying that, Doniare is an awesome counter puncher, and tat will probably be the deciding factor

 

I've recently watched Nishiokas 4 fights with Sahaprom. Donaire will decimate him, and whilst he has a fair bit if clout in his left, not sufficient enough to even give him a punchers chance (and I really like Toshiaki)
