It is starting to look like Parker is not on the Saudi December card. That means it has been months and months out of the limelight He stopped fighting this year in order to "bulk up" Has he now utterly lost momentum?
I still don't understand him as a boxer and as a person. He had a chance and he got the wins, but after that he is not active, where is his ambitions ? Does he wants money ? Fame ? Tittle ?
Article I read says it's outside of his control. He's on the hook for Zhang but Saudis don't want it yet, so he can't make other fights and is in limbo. Mighty shame too.
Bad management if that's the case. There should have been a deadline for the rematch to be activated & if Zhang fought someone else instead of the rematch it should have been void.
Parker is at his peak right now in terms of earning potential. Only 32 in a division with the exception of Hrgovic, Usyk, and Dubois, of washed up old men. With two excellent wins under his belt. He has really come on since the lame capitulation to AJ, many would back him now to put AJ to sleep if the rematch ever happened. And the big money is on the table for him too. He has to be looking for an Usyk or Dubois fight next.
Being inactive is never a good thing and it's a failure of his management if he is indeed side lined by the rematch with Zhang, especially as Zhang was allowed an interim fight. It would be a mistake going into another big fight with a dangerous opponents after nearly a year out of the ring which is likely now he is not on the December card. His management should be demanding he be on the December card, even if it's against a low level opponent, lower down on the card. I know the Saudi's bring the money but if they side line fighters for long periods of time like this, they are no better than PBC and we saw what happened there, it's not a recipe that spells long term success.
How exactly is Parker in a position to be able to demand he be included on the December card? He could ask. Probably has. But demand?
I’m surprised Turki hasn’t concluded his mini heavyweight tournament with Parker v Kabayel in December. Unless the Zhang rematch clause has cleverly tied him up, in which case shame on Parker’s management.
It was a one way rematch clause, and I think it's ultimately up to the Saudi's when they fight. Nothing management can do if Turki says no. Like who? Parker is too high risk without the Saudi dollars for many fighters, and it's evident no fight will be made without their approval anyway. Exactly. The dark side of Turki running the show is that he can sideline good fights as well as make big ones happen.
