Nard' has a pretty decent beard himself which rarely gets mentioned. Never looks like getting ko'd. Pavlik has a great chin and Taylor hits deceptively hard as he nailed Froch who took everything Kessler and Pascal threw and didn't go down.
How do you explain a good chin? Do you class it the same as many in how many punches a boxer can take without falling or do you class recovery as part of a great chin make up. For me it has to be both? I have seen many a fighter not go down who are on the brink of being stopped and just been kept in there because they are upright. A great chin is the ability to take a punch that would knockdown most opponents and teh fighter has all his faculties and is able to fight on and/or defend properly. If they go down but get up and fight on then that's great recovery but its should also be counted as chin imo. Fighters like Khan who get hit and look torrid have bad chins where people like Nard' can take a punch and crack on as usual.
Pavlik hasn't had enough fights against top quality punchers, so every infallability he has shown in the chin department has to be taken into consideration IMO.
He ducked Williams who would of troubled him no end but still wouldn't fo stopped him. I actually think Pavlik has a great chin, not ATG by any meands but it's solid. Darren Barker would beg for that chin put it that way. MW been dead for a few years now, a high here and there but **** all exciting. SMW is where it's at but even that's cooling off. Abraham v Pavlik in a comeback fmake or break fight would be ace at MWas a quick thought.
I actually think Pavlik would have beaten Williams regardless. Williams never met a jab or a right hand he didn't like, and Pavlik wouldn't have had to struggle to find him the way he did with Martinez.
