So many times.... are you kidding?

The great thing about him is that he always got up and won the fights.

Yes he was but he was only stopped once that was against light heavyweight champion Joey Maxim where he retired in his corner after round 13 suffering from heat exhaustion, he was ahead by the time the fight ended and would most likely been crowned light heavyweight champion had he been able to continue.

Even the ref collapsed in r10.

SRR should have won that fight.

Sorry, i edited my post; meant in his prime.
Just checked boxrec; he suffered 4 knockdowns against 3 different fighters during his prime years; the Graziano kd was questionable.

    Tommy Bell (1946)
    Artie Levine (1946) (nearly stopped)
    La Motta (1943)
    La Motta (1943) (lost)

Three times by LaMotta. Once through the ropes and SRR was saved by the bell at the count of 9.

    But.............

Lamotta KD him 3 times. People who don't know the history will tell you "yeah lamotta got lucky once and lost all the other fights againsts SRR", they never actually watched the other ones because they were very close, 1 or 2 were split decisions.

Graziano also floored him, SRR said in an interview that was one of the hardest punches he has ever felt in any weight class. Too bad for graziano that was his best punch, all he had was a clubbing right hand.

It's generally considered that he wasn't floored in his career.

Considering LaMotta was much heavier than him, his only true kds during his prime were vs Tommy Bell and Artie Levine, who had him on the verge of being stopped.

No he never went down as a professional or as an amateur. There was no blueprint to knock him down.
