Another thing to note is Pulev has a bad habit of dropping his left hand after throwing a jab. A shot, ponderous Chisora at certain points was able to time and land some right hands over the top. Joshua has very quick reflexes and has become adept at throwing them right hand counters. I could see him replicating what he did to Martin against Pulev.
No. 0. Before the Wlad fight, he looked promising. In the Wlad fight he wasn't too bad, but he showed a lot of limitations. And after it, he never recovered. He's in full regression, and he was never that good to begin with. Particularly he struggles with pressure and hard punchers, since his defense is... not found. And guess who punches hard and puts a lot of pressure in his style, even more than Wlad?
Pulev doesn't have the punchers chance that Whyte and Breazeale had, but he can actually box with Joshua at range... So that's what makes this one kind of interesting.
LOL....I'd make it about 8% He's a decent Pro and can possibly have his greatest fight ever like a couple of guys have enjoyed in the past such as Jimmy Braddock or Buster Douglas. It's possible but very unlikely. Who was the bigger underdog, Braddock or Douglas?
The key to winning for Joshua would be to take away Pulev's jab. I think Joshua has the longer reach, so he could outjab Pulev.
Joshua has a better jab, he is taller and stronger. His chin has not proved yet, but Pulev is no more than average puncher. Joshua's durability is questionable, if he can last 12 rounds without gassing - then Pulev has some chance only in theory.
Joshua hits harder, and Pulev has poor defense. Pulev left himself open quite a bit in the Chisora fight. If he does that against Joshua, it will be a short fight.
That's not true. Joshua has an average jab for his height/reach, nothing special. Pulev on the other hand has one of the best jabs in all heavyweight.
Where was Pulev's jab against Wlad ? Joshua's jab is more than decent, united with his height/reach/strength is quite enough for easy win.
Pulev has a decent jab but isn't fast enough or hard hitting enough to win . Joshua will steamroller him in a few rnds.the fighter to beat Joshua will be a fast moving boxer or a big hitter.
Joshua never fought someone remotely on Wlad's level. Wlad could have taken out Joshua as well. Pulev has very good wins against Ustinov/Dimitrenko/Chisora etc by merely using his jab. Jab is not Joshua's "thing", that's for sure.
I have to agree, but I admit that I had expected much more of Pulev against Wlad. After trash talking, in the ring he was worse than Mormeck. I predicted Wlad's win by close decision, and it was massacre, and I lost respect for Pulev as a fighter Now, I can/must not expect Pulev to do anything against Joshua; have to add - Wlad vs Pulev was something like Foreman vs Fraiser
