He's a very good boxer but he's also chinny and that is a bad portend for someone who's moving up in weight for reasons other then being 'weight-drained'.
If the guy had a better chin, he could rule that division. Even still, he beats most fighters at 154.
I do remember, though, when he beat Williams, Merchant (or Kellerman) asked him about a possible rematch with Cotto...and the look on Quintana's face was hilarious. It was a "yea...maybe not" look
Just defending my people ULI, you know. You are reacting like I sais something bad obout your girl ODLH:good
I don't know man, you also have Angulo, Kirkland when he gets out of jail, Dzinziruk, Santos, Martinez, Cintron, Spinks, Sechew Powell, Latimore and some contenders like Erislandy Lara. Phillips is also a tough fight.
Carlos did ask for a rematch with PW but we all know PW only does rematches when he needs them not when they are offered to him. I would think Quintana has a good chance at beating PW in a rubbermatch. People forget he just got caught with a big shot in that 1st round and PW did a good job finishing him. Before that big shot Quintana was still schooling him. All he has to do is avoid the big shots like he did the first fight.
I think it is a bad move for Quintana, he could easily beat a 147 titlist like Berto. I don't see why he is going to move up and face those harder punchers at 154.
What makes people think he would "easily" beat someone like Berto? That he beat Williams? Do people forget that he fought relatively even with Joel Julio, and that he wasn't even close to being competitive with Miguel Cotto? And how many people seriously think he could beat Williams again? Based on styles, I suspect that Berto would overwhelm Quintana with his handspeed.
Quintana is officially fighting at 154 although last I was told, Quintana hasn't even seen a guy named Jim since early May. Quintana is the sort of guy who can handle being the severe underdog but can't handle the pressure of being expected to win. His focus level both in the ring and out of it seem to vary from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. This IS the same guy who took time out of camp to play a pick up baseball game while training for Cotto.
