I remember Mr Frank Warren made this comment and i though i about it and tend to agree. With his amazing talent , exciting style and role model life he should of made more money and be alot of more famous than he is. After that Dela Hoya win he should grown into a superstar. To build a star you should build fights with a angle and something thats stands out and makes some thin waves in mainsteam. He was so great to watch and casual fans would have been attracted to him. I know he showed his no fear attitude to fight Winky Wright and Margarito. These were fights people saw as extremly dangerous and not big paydays.

    What do u think

    Yea pretty much.

He could have been the modern day Arguello. Humble outside the ring but a beast inside of it. However the real boxing fans know he did always try to fight the best even though not so smart for his career.

The Balco thing is the only dark spot on his career.

He's the only fighter I can think of who "padded his losses". To have 6 losses he has only lost to 4 people in Forrest, Wright, Cotto, and Mayweather(also DLH but that doesn't count on paper unfortunately). Anywho, his desire to fight the best is what helped him get great victories(Vargas, DLH, Marg) and make him a great fighter. He was the ONLY man to give Forrest a chance @ WW and I respect the hell outta him for doing that. His drive to fight the best really made me his fan(that and he's the only great Sugar left so far and growing up I loved the sugars, SRR, SRL) and he will always be my fav fighter. Definitely a future HOF'er.

That popped up after the DLH rematch in 2003. He beat DLH the first time in 2000 but should've been a bigger star after that.

    He also lacks charisma though.

And the ability to overcome adversity when the fights aren't going his way but he's still great.

I think he's been badly managed more than anything, he should have never taken a fight with Winky Wright, Shane and his people should have known that Winky was a bad stylistic match up.

I never understood why he wasn't a bigger star after the first DLH victory!!! I thought after he won that fight he'd be a mega star with that cross over appeal. Kind of how Floyd and Pac were after they beat DLH.

His ATG status reflects that he took on all-comers and short money. He will be rated higher that DLH, Winky, Margarito (if he makes it), possibly Mayeather, Forrest, Cotto. He lives very confortably and though not Mayweather or DLH status (monetarily) he will live well till his death...

Me either. He should've been bigger but it didn't happen. Even now, I feel his fanbase should be MUCH bigger than it is.

He's a multi millionaire, a lock for the hall of fame, hugely popular with some great wins and a fantastic resume.

It's worth remembering that the first fighter of significance that he fought after Oscar all but shut im out. That didnt help his momentum and neither did the immediate rematch clause.

He's done well for himself and the fans!

perhaps, hell Mayweather was badly promoted with Bob Arum and would have ended up in the same shape had the 'money' persona not occurred.
