I agree that a fight channel with HD would have found more luck. They could have started by snapping up all of the UFCs fight cards which ESPN seem to have lost.

At the moment only hardcores will watch SD in such poor production.

Sky is produced to a compeltely different level. Bunce's Boxing Hour really does look horrible. What is this disgusting red background they use. Their art looks like it was created with word at best.

Before BN goes subscription, I hope they step their game up from a brand perspective. As long as they show the fights, then thats alot of hardcores on board but to keep people, improve their image etc they need to step it up.

yeh the HD stuff is a big one for me personally. i never get the primetime ppv's because of it just watch them the next morning.

thats my issue with the channel. i do think it could work i just dont think ****** is the right man to be at the helm. he is to old school.

What--the--****? I just assumed BoxNation was some crappy little network that would show small-time fights and replays. Wow. That line-up is ridiculous.

Check the viewing figures for espn UFC main events and compare them to 3am cards that were on sky.

What evidence do you have of this other than him telling people he is a shareholder?

I meant what is the risk to Voldemort if he was making big losses whilst on Sky (as he himself said) anyway...

I have ended my SKY subsciption weeks ago. It was the best decision I made in a while.

BoxNation have an awesome schedule. I hope it stays free for a while.

The UFC comes only once a year in the UK and I doubt that the local mma shows do much in terms of attendance.

wasnt Setantas biggest hurdle the fact that them "dodgy satellite boxes" where out at the time Setanta came on the scene?

did you english lads have them? basicaly they where little illegal decoders that EVERYBODY IN IRELAND HAD, you only need your standard cable package, yet with this reciever you got all the sky sports, setanta, sky movies and even Sky PPV events all for free, they where on the go for 2 years, and i heard from a guy once that they reckoned only for the "dodgy box" Setanta would have gotten alot more subscriptions

    as for Boxnation.

i think it'll fail miserably myself. The boxing market is too niche now to support a dedicated boxing channel.

just put it like this, think of your close circle of friends, and then think how many of them are hardcore boxing fans, compared to casual fans?

i have freinds that i watch the boxing with, but out of 5 of them, there's only me that would buy PPV events or anything that required more money to be spent

Sky were responsible for the sport's expulsion to the fringes. It went from being the sport of the working class on ITV and BBC to only for people prepared to pay. Because the fights weren't regular enough there was no regular fanbase to justify most fans paying.

And now boxing is becoming even more niche. But BoxNation at least seems like a good plan, even if it is limiting the audience.

Barry Hearn can make all the smug comments he likes about how he's growing the audience. If he really was, he'd be working to get it back on terrestrial.

every guy and his dogs started training in "cagefighting" all over the UK. A lot more than people who box, at least round my way.
