I wonder how surprised by the boxnation announcement Sky were. As has been mentioned, everyone was speculating when that channel showed up broadcasting ****** fights. They had to be suspicious at least that 6 weeks before Cleverley-Bellew, they hadn't come to terms to show the fight.

Also, Sky started this season by saying that Nick Halling was the new voice of Sky boxing. I assume they knew then that Rawling wasn't going to be readily available- another warning sign.

I still wouldn't be shocked if Sky have a tie in with them.

As for the UFC stuff mentioned, there is no way UFC will go to Boxnation so I don't see much point in Boxnation bringing in a minor league group. The 'kids cagefighting' farce from a few weeks ago shows that MMA is far from mainstream in this country

I reckon I could make up better!!
Khan to Boxnation, C5 or even Khan to regular sky sports would be a decent story. Khan back on box office would change nothing really!

i dont think sky will be too bothered either way, its not like theyre having a naz hatton lewis or calzaghe taken away from them

if there is a huge fight involving a british fighter at any point, khan vs mayweather or a haye comeback or something, it'll be on sky because it'll make more money on sky

a question i have is if say somehow groves or degale or somebody becomes a huge international star how is it going to work out in terms of tv money from the single fight just taken from boxnations subscriptions? obviously for ppv they get an up front fee and percentage of sales

    Free for now.

Subscription comes in before the end of the year. Most likely on either December 3rd, or December 17th. They're giving the first month away free at the moment as well.

btw, i see Boxnation are at least advertising on boxing websites - although these are the places least likely to need advertising

BoxNation was common knowledge in the industry months ago. Its no surprise to Sky.

The existence of the channel was common knowledge but not what it was all about dude.

Here's a little pearl for you - two more channels will enter the fray in the realm of combat sports broadcasting before the year is out. You heard it here first.

I was thinking about this and how the internet has changed how we consume entertainment. There really isn't a "mainstream" any more. Coldplay are probably the biggest band in the world, but their biggest album has sold nothing like U2's The Joshua Tree did in a comparable period. Mainstream is a very dubious concept now.

Specialisation is where it's at. Personalised news is already here, and soon it'll be personalised entertainment. As long as the cost of entry is low and BoxNation make every effort to promote some big fights and show them free, I think it has to be a good thing.

Sky have been getting less and less interested in boxing for years...they know the sport is in dire need of change (too many so called world champions etc...) and have scaled down thier investment over a period of time...F wank having to open his own channel is bad news imo. I can't see it lasting although if he keeps up the quality of fights being shown over the next few months then you never know.
The thing that worries me is that I havent seen any adverts for BoxNation on any terrestrial or major sky channels yet...F wank needs to up his game in this respect if he wants to really broaden the channels viewing figures long term.
