We all already knew he had heart and willingness to win, but ironically even though he won, I actually rate him less now than I did before the fight. What does everyone else think?

I'd probably disagree, the flaws he showed are flaws which people following him knew well about before. The hands down style, the lackadaisical workrate, the slow start, the tendancy to roundhouse his shots sometimes.

The good stuff about Froch, his power and stamina and durability and so on, weren't really any different here than before. The big difference is, against Pascal and now Taylor, Froch showed he's been able to retain those qualities against higher class opponents.

I think he comes out of it with more of a plus than a minus, though mileage may vary of course.

Froch just won the biggest fight of his life against the best opponent.

The higher in class you go the more weaknesses are going to be exposed.

The W is the answer to these weaknesses.

there arent any questions really everyone knows what he is i.e a hardworking, durable, decently hard punching fighter with no defense who will be beaten by the top fighters in the weightclasses around him because hes too slow and easy to hit. But apart from the top 2 super middles i cant see anyone at super middle beating him.

That he beat Taylor doesn't tell us much because that was more persistance and good fortune than real skill. Taylor had soundly trounced him for 11 rounds and hurt him twice. Taylor's not a big banger, but he had Froch badly stung, particularly in the 8th.

Bute or Kessler would beat him like a drum.

No it hasn't. It's just confirmed that despite his flaws he can still beat world class opponents.

Not bad for someone who didn't perform for the first half of the fight.
We knew Taylor would outbox him early but after the third round things were looking very bad for Froch, but Froch has the intangibles that many people overlook, his Heart is huge, His will to win is immense and he is a Warrior.
People need to think about that before writing him off so easily in the future!

He has surely answered his critics with that comeback, He may not have the pretty style and silky skills but to beat Jermain Taylor with a performance that imo was not him at his very best just goes to show what Carl "The Cobra" Froch is all about.

ok sweetie we are going to get a liitle perspective here....

il try to be as impartial as is humanly possible..

-it was the first defence of his title
    -on foreign soil
-against the former undisputed mw champion
-with little tv exposure and a paycheck of 700,000$

yes he was edgy and a little less flowing than usual but what do you expect?no one ever said he was the greatest boxer, but the guy has just produced yet another FOTY contender, and showed heart/endurance and unbelievable resiliance and in my opinion gave us 2 of the best rounds of boxing in years, its a great achievement in british boxing terms let alone on the world stage!

the last 2 rounds were froch's,and i gave him at least another 3 so to say he trounced him is laughable, taylor was clearly winning on points but carl had his moments throughout yet failed to find a rhythm, stop making out it was a whitewash there were moments throughout when taylor was wobbled!

if you dont understand the victory then you dont understand boxing.

Are you going to cry, Socrates?

That was an abysmal performance from Froch until the last two rounds and I still think he was taking the worst of the exchanges. if you can't understand how lucky Froch was then YOU don't understand boxing.
