Has the fact Pac never took a sustained beating allowed him to last this long?

I always wondered how he was able to last this long more so with his style of fighting

When i say beating i mean a sustained amount of punishment him being backed up for the majority of a fight?

He's been in his fair share of wars. He's never been backed up for most of a fight, because no-one has ever managed to do it.

Yea he has been in wars but never been beaten up.

I really think thats one main reason why he lasted this long

Yeah. But he should fight the fighter in him and retire when his ability slips. Boxers tend to think they still got it and they take beatings that scar legacys.

He's tough and even though he's faded he's still a very good athlete at this stage of his career. His sheer speed and power also generally makes opponents more gunshy against him. When his athletic ability fades more noticeably is when he'll need to hang it up or adapt.

I think it's the exact opposite. The wars he's been in have been catching up with him for the last 4-5 years, and he's a far lesser fighter today than he was then because of all the wear and tear he's suffered.

I believe PED's helped him through his toughest fights, and now it's just a case of careful opponent selection to get him through.

Taking a beating would mean he is severely outmatched.. Bob Arum has insured that that never happens. Catchweights and fighting old past prime fighters has extended his career

What would you call the Marquez bouts then?

They both took sustained and pretty substantial beatings in each fight.

"Power is the last thing to go with age" is the old adage. Pac's power is perhaps his biggest single weapon, or among them, in the ring.

He didn't get beatdown ever. But man the first Marquez, Morales and Margarito fights were total wars.

He didn't get beatdown because pac fights back no matter what the circumstance, he never backs down or go survival mode kill or be killed is the mindset he used to have.

Punishment is punishment though. It doesn't matter if it's one sided or not. Getting hit by the caliber of fighters that he got hit by takes its toll.
