McVey, i'll answer your question by using the words of the late, great joe frazier. Smokin joe was in belfast about 5 or 6yrs back and my ol man had a 1 on 1 with him briefly. He asked, "Joe, when you were fighting, even the contenders were pretty good. Your nortons, quarrys, lyles, bonavenas and whatnot. There just isnt those kind of fighters now. Why do you think that is?"
Joe just said simply, "They cant fight."

    Short and sweet

    You caught me there Matt.:good
I've read a couple of Solzhenytsyn's, Cancer Ward, and The Gulag Archipelago , but I preferred his short novel, One Day In the Life Of Ivan Denisovich . Can't get into Kafka.

My educated guess is that nationalistic, cultural, even racial (in the "good" sense of the word) elements has something to do with the Klits' popularity in their home country and neighborhood countries...

After all; when was the last time that white european fighters dominated the HW division?

By the same token, I am sure that Pacquiao's run has bolstered a lot the public interest and media coverage on boxing in The Philipines and other asian countries

Anyway; it is just natural for a "regular" champion to be popular in his home country. But only great champions are popular everywhere: Ali, Frazier, Foreman, Norton, Holmes, Tyson, were popular everywhere and their bouts would draw crowds anywhere

The Klist? I don't think so :blood

I actualy don't think that we are currently in the weakest era in the heistory of the heavyweight division.

For a start, you can't treat the Klitschko brothers as being a single individual, despite the fact that some people seem to try. That if nothing else gives you a strong top 2.

In 54, Valdes,Charles and Baker were in the top 4 ,I would pick those three to beat Adamek.
    Cockell might surprise you.
I don't think Adamek is a lock to beat any of the other three you mentioned either, I would certainly pick a focused Leon to beat him, and Bobick would be competitive, imo.
