I agree somewhat. But the afore-mentioned were only interested in getting you to the mat so they could pound you to ****. None of them were really LNP guys. They were all about the GNP. Myself personally i pefer the late 90's era. Far more action. More exciting fights which equal more KO's and better entertainment.
I have no idea what you were watching back then. cro cop could beat everyone with just good muay thai then, Tank About just punched, if anything the HW are much more rounded now and the fighters are better.
Tanks days of relevance were way back beyond either of those eras in the mid 90's so I'm not sure why your mentioning him. Crocop was I agree one dimentional in his offence(although his wrestling and sub defence were quality) but never looked as sloppy/paniced/gassed as a few big names have recently. Part of the problem is IMHO that people carry over the boxing "HW = crap" mindset into MMA when in reality I don't think thats been true, narrow yes but actually some of the best action on offer back in the day. HW was afterall the first division to pay serious money so its hardly supprizing that it devolped faster. In alot of other nations the draw of big men into other sports(football, basketball etc) isnt as strong either, big athletic guys in soccer playing countries like Brazil are naturally draw into fighting.
